Quick Peak at John's Bat Cave
« on: February 21, 2016, 04:45:03 PM »

Had some time to kill before the season and invited myself across to see John at Red Ink HQ. Wasn't for anything special (I already have that from John!), just some cleaning up of bats and a bit of knocking in but a good excuse to nose around. Chatted about most things and John did well to put up with me for 2 hours on a Sunday. Here's some pics:-

Many thanks to John and it was a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work.

Nothing better than going to a workshop and seeing the skill involved in making the bats and the knocking machine is a great tool to have that's for sure

Ah! A proper look at where John works his magic! Surprised you didn't end up buying another bat!

Was good to have you over Nick. Work shop is a little untidy and in the small side but works for me and I've got everything I need pretty close by

There's  lovely looking half and half cleft in that lot. I wouldn't mind that in the Tuskar shape

A tidy untidy workshop say one thing to me is that your to busy to clean it so your doing something right John an it adds to the character and smell of a used workshop is something very special looks light your making some very nice bats that's for sure

Great to chat, some really nice bats being made. The one low middled one was lovely.

What you do mean John when you say "one mark/bar"? Sorry for being thick, also what grade is it?

Tempted as always. Trying to convince John to develop a big edge monster so I can test it!

It's the end of a knot across part of the face, only minor. It's probably a x2 unless that comes out in the machining.
