Why doesn't Broad pitch it up more often? Clearly when he does he's half decent, so why does he so often insist with pinging them in short?

He still thinks he's a bang-it-in type of bowler, but yeah he's proven he's much better pitched up, will be something more mentally he will have to work out. Also it's difficult to just change it, if that is his natural length it will take time to adjust

Swann's a journey man. If I got out to him I'd be devastated.

I mean he's hardly fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Murali, Harbhajan, Mendis. Whom are the cream of crop of off spinners.
Swann has had remarkable success against all countries, as for Mendis- hes suffering from second season syndrome. Murali was world class but has lost fizz, Harbhajan is still a very very good bowler imo.

Who ever mentioned him with the likes of Murali etc...?

Nice to see england ripping through the south african batsman though!!

Most people are aware that the asian based teams supply a larger quanity of spinners, So its a simple rule of thumb that some will turn out to be world class,

Thats the same saying England have loads of quality seamers in comparison to Pakistan who struggle to bowl teams out...

Swann's had decent success against a clueless Windies side. 26 wickets @ 22.15. And is currently having a decent time against S.Africa, who are renown for being pretty poor players of spin.

Against India, on a square turner at Chennai, he was woeful. Also 2 Tests vs India, 8 wickets @ 40 on spinners pitches. Averages 40 vs Australia as well.

I wouldn't rule out Mendis just yet. India got revenge against him. He would still tear most non Asian sides apart.
Im sorry he outbowled both Mishra and Harbhajan on that tour......

Sorry pal, I'm not Pakistani, but they have produced some of the best quick bowlers the world has ever seen. Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar etc. Any side in the world would love any of those 4.
Theyre struggling to bowl many teams out at the moment, although they have two potential high class fast bowlers in Aamer and Asif, with Anwar Ali making progress. We have Onions, Anderson and Broad, who are currently better bowlers than the two leading Pakistani quicks imo.

You must've been watching a different series to me pal. Harbhajan Singh 8 wickets @ 35. Not world class but he was the best spinner on display.

In the ODI's, Harbhajan Singh 7 wickets @ 30.28.  and a decent economy of 5.04 Swann 4 wickets @ 31 but a shocking economy for 6.52
Ok lets face it, Swann isnt a world class ODI bowler yet, and that wasnt the point of the topic making it almost irrelevant. Mishra 6 wickets at 42.66, Harbhajan is world class and he can really only match swanns figures, from what i saw of the SL series he didnt bag that many wickets (13 at 41), Swann is dominating every side he faces, and their spinners. Besides on his first tour he was almost half the bowler he is now, with his new found confidence and without debut test match nerves.

Come on now, Asif gets his wicket @ 23. That is world class. Aamer is very young and raw, but he could be the new (stay it quietly)Wasim Akram. Their third seamer is an issue, but they have some decent bowlers like Gul, Tanvir, Shoaib's still around somewhere.

Broad and Anderson get their wickets @ 35's and they play their home matches on seaming wickets. Onions is a poor man's Asif in all fairness. Anyway the Pakistani's will be in England in 2010 so we'll see who's attack is better.
Onions is a poor mans Asif, are you mad? Sorry England are bowling sides out. Pakistan are yet to do this in Aus! Aamer is potentially class, potentially - lets face it he too could face second season syndrome (doubt this though). Pakistan have 2 potential world class seamers, england have 3.

The proof of the pudding is that SA are 70 odd for 6, and also failed in the first innings!!!

With regards to the recently concluded India vs Sri Lanka series, did you see the pitches? At times they where flatter then the M25. 13 @ 41 is pretty poor. but the pitches didn't turn. Murali didn't exactly set the world on fire either.

Swann would never dominate India. If Warne couldn't, then there's no chance of Swann doing so.
He doesnt need to dominate India, just needs to match or better the 'world class' spinners india are renowned for.

Maybe not, but you dont typically beat India with spin, you would look to your swing bowlers with conventional and reverse swing

I'd like to point out Swann is an awesome batsman too
