My lastest Repair...
« on: February 28, 2016, 02:06:17 AM »

Hey guys.. attached pictures of the last bat i repaired, is a Gray Nicolls Predator of a good friend...

It was in really bad shape, but he loves this bat so decided to go ahead with the repair

Damaged area...

Glued and clamped it with parcel tape....

After removing tape...

Used a small piece of willow to seal the gap...

Used 4 dowels...

Binded with twine and ready to use...

As always will love to hear what u guys think....

Questions:

1. How did you shape the filler piece for the gap? Exact fit or close enough?
2. What kind of a glue did you use?
3. How deep are those dowels?
4. What's the benefit of those dowels? Sorry, I know very little about wood working. :)

My question is why do you have the dowels running front to back? shouldn't it been from the edge to edge through the crack?

on a second look perhaps that just the angle of photo

I am loving the use of twine in the fix, although I do think it may be time for a new bat, it does look a brilliant fix.
