A trio of B3 Mullinators
« on: March 05, 2016, 02:07:40 PM »

Despite having around 10 bats and being on the forum a fair while this is my first pictorial contribution, I hope you enjoy.

I was fortunate enough to receive a 50% off voucher, I decided to delay my purchase to avoid the mad rush. Visited Streaky two weeks ago with a couple of friends and was warmly welcomed, we were given a tour of the facility and picked up countless bats and clefts. Many thanks to Streaky, anybody who can get down there for a visit I would highly recommend it.

First bat is the bat I choose 3 stripe, Mullinator shape, Oval handle, 403 cleft I believe and currently weighs in at 2'12.8, I usually use around 2'10 but this is perfectly manageable. I opted for the SM5 2016 stickers (hence nobody else on the forum is allowed this combo  :D)

Second bat for a friend 3 stripe, Mullinator shape, Oval handle, 370ish cleft and currently weighs in at 2'11, with extra binding on the bottom of the handle, this one picks up the best of the three.

Third bat for a friend 3 stripe, Mullinator shape, Oval handle, 375ish cleft and currently weighs in at 2'11.5, with extra binding on the bottom of the handle again, Probably one of the best looking bats I have ever seen magnificent grainage front and back, should be hung on the wall and left there!

These bats do look outstanding. Well worth going down and having a look for the right cleft because these looks incredible!! Benefits of extra binding at the bottom of the handle?

Are you sure the cleft weights were that high as 475 ? Did you mean 375? 475 with mull profile will go beyond 3 lbs .

Were all these bought from 50% voucher mate? All of them look lovely and believe me, I also have my eyes on those SM5 sticker. ;)

Ooof - all three look really nice. Is it all in the balance then, having a dead weight of 2.12 even though you usually use 2.10?

also - WILL SOMEONE GET ME ONE OF THOSE PALE BLUE GRIPS!!!!!

The theory on the extra binding on the bottom hand, was that a Mull in the shop had that handle set up and it felt perfect.

Yes 375 and 370 sorry, 475 would equate to Mahogany!

Higher middle than I would normally use hence picks up better, so the extra weigh doesn't seem to be an issue.

Just the top one was with 50% off hence the 400 density cleft.

Cracking looking bats!! Glad i got to see them twice......

The blue sm5 one, although not a fan of that colour stickers, is a cracking looking piece of willow.

Those bats look fantastic!

Having been to B3 myself I can only reiterate what you've said, very welcoming and a proper day out for a kit badger (aka forum member)

Might just be the camera angle but to me it seems like the second bat is a fuller profile than the first? Do they have different designs for different densities? Also going by the density theory if the first bat with 403 density is 2'12.8 then the second with 370 density should have been 3 oz lighter at 2'9.8 and not 2'11?

The bottom two bats both have extra binding on the bottom of the handle hence the extra weight.

As a Coventry city fan those sky blue and white stickers are awesome! Hopefully they'll be more available in the future...
