Best Boots 2016
« on: March 09, 2016, 05:11:22 PM »

Potentially in the market for some new boots, I had the SL22's but they seemed to give me the dreaded black toe which wasn't great.

Previously I had asics advance 2's and 3's and didn't have any issue with them.

So the question is eagle eyes CBFers has anyone seen any good deals in UK size 8 they can point me towards?

I'm tempted by the SL22 Boosts but they ain't cheap and don't have spikes so might not be much cop in the "English Summer".

I've just got last years Lunar Dominates for £42 in Sports Direct. Think they had some sizes 8s online.

The new 2016 SL22's are a big improvement on the old model, so well worth considering.

Pro direct got new SL22. I can send you a 10% discount coupon if that helps.

Asics all the way never get any problems and I always get 3 seasons out of a pair of gel advance boots as I wear them batting and in the field!!

I second this, I've had the same pair of Asics for 9 or 10 seasons now and they are still the comfiest piece of footwear period I've ever had

Development costs id imagine in making them, got my eye on a pair but not sure they'd be much cop of a wet outfield which sadly is quite common here during the summer!

Fair enough but a new concept too!

I am slightly undecided whether I should buy them now or wait for sales and pick them up then. But then I have never seen Adidas shoes in my size being available during sales.

All adidas boost trainers are in the £80-120 range as well as its a premium sole for the, yeh i get lucky as my hobbit size feet at 7.5 for trainers seem to stay in stock. Think im an 8 in cricket boots though due to cricket socks being so thick.

You will get Ripped to pieces wearing boots like that. I can just imagine the wicket keeper saying couldn't you afford boots with no holes in!!!! And wet feet alert!! Nothing worse being in the field for 3 hours with wet feet!!!!!

Again why does it matter what the wicket keeper says to you??

Also "boots without holes in" has to be the worse banter ever.

2 things.

1) Man up! Who cares of the keeper gives you chat? Either ignore him or chirp back...

2) I'm yet to come across a keeper who can tie their own shoes, let alone work out if someone else's have holesin! The most intellectual chirp I've heard was "you had him on the back foot there" after I pulled a 4 off their dobly 'seamer', and even his team mates weren't sure if he was being ironic...

The best i had was when we were 60 for 8 (something like that) and i blocked out my first few overs they finally chirped up with 'we have a test match on here boys!' my response was a 4 straight down the ground off their opener.
