Me trying to be sensible!! GoPro footage
« on: March 16, 2016, 07:39:21 PM »

All winter I've felt good. Striking the ball well, scoring runs, only getting out when being stupid st the end of nets.

Then something minor and silly wound me up at a net, batted (No Swearing Please), and have done since both indoor(2runs in 2 games) and last two club nets.

So had a net with a bowling machine, first one for a few months.

So here's what's what.

Bowling machine on 70mph
With some Inswing(as this is an issue I have at moment)
Operate told to vary length and line and try to get me out but no short balls(but in not sure if he ever moved it after the first Barage off Yorkers)

I aimed to be sensible, I felt poor first dozen balls, and as my confidence grew, so did my ability to stay sensible...... And the end well.

Last session with the camera close, is merely me trying(and failing) to break a storm damage bat. It's a decent bat tbh.

Personaly viewing, I'm bring my pad across ala Shane Watson, I'm following the ball with my right hip on striking, and my bat ain't coming down straight.
Lots to work on!

Lots of Critism welcome. Give me tips peeps while I go watch buzzes videos before tonight's club net.

Potentially try to keep the back leg grounded more? You'll lose power and timing if it keeps kicking out at the end of the shot. The power in a shot comes from a decent stable base predominantly - so if you try to keep that more anchored, I think it would be a great benefit to your game.

Other than that looked decent!

@smilley792 I'd say most of your issues arise from poor balance (I have the same problem myself) while striking the ball. try doing this drill: have some lob a ball at you (underarm), and hit it as hard as possible into the ground, without moving your feet. this will give you a feel for striking the ball with a solid platform, and also teach you to play the ball late (only way to hit it into the ground without moving feet).

@smilley792 Hi mate, refer to buzz's kitchen coaching RE: your back leg

you left elbow never bend its pretty much straight throughout your shot, meaning you play your shot with alot of bottom hand and your right hip (walking through the shot)

At 4:12 AND 4:16 you can see where you bat ends compared to where the ball goes!

I'll take a guess that you leading edge or outside edge it alot?

Most important thing
You are moving around far too much and your head is not still at any point.
The fact you hit any of the shots is remarkable!

Relax more at the crease, stay stiller as the ball is fed I to the machine and move your head to the line of the ball.
You play some nice on drives, these are good but the wafts to leg get you into trouble.

Clearly you need to stay side on more through the shots.

Still good to see someone working on their weaknesses in the nets!

First things first. Here is footage from last night net. See if I look different against bowlers to actual machines. If you can tell from the stumpers view.

I was wanting to come down with a straighter bat and stop the right hip follow, but looking at the video not sure it happened.

In terms of the net it was better than previous, still not happy with a few shots, need to stop moving and premeditating shots when the quick puts it on middle.

Cheers to @ItsJustCricket @brokenbat @Woodyspin and @Buzz all areasnillnlook to work on, change see if makes any difference.

To buzz, amusing you say I move to much, @procricket B3 said same when I had a bowling machine net with him, when defending or being sensible I'm moving far to much, but when attacking and trying to hit hard, I apparently become a lot more stiller.
Probably not enough though.

Need more nets now!
Who's in Bristol tonight for bowling machine? Lol

Nailed the scoop though
