Won a 40 overs league match on Saturday. Bowled 8 overs for 22 runs & 3 wickets.

Won a T25 on Sunday.. Bowled 4 overs for 13 runs & 2 wickets..

So far i am content with my bowling this season.. Trained a lot during the off season to control my natural in-swing and line & length.

Loved this weekend despite two very different games and a now dodgy knee after twisting it three times diving or sliding.

Away to Taplow 2nds, who us at CSG have a habit of choking against. Won toss and bowled, took a couple of catches at mid off, skier early on then a flat one later on. Bowled like a retard myself, 1/60 from 11 with a wet ball and against a strong wind that kept dragging my leggies from off to leg. Ended up with them so for 162 after my academy xi opening bowler took 3/14 off 6 on league debut. Batted 7, went in about 80/5 with number 5 on 0. Put on 80+ to see us home despite being dropped twice each and me being quite possibly plumb but given not out by their umps. Oppo skipper was not pleased as we only had 10, three u15s and he was ranting about losing to a team with four kids. Given his comments whilst I was batting I don't think he realised I'm actually 22 as I look about 17/18. Ended 37* with 5 getting 41*, both our highest scores this season. Before then he'd had two goldens and id had one and a second baller, so we only had six runs between us before we got going!

Yesterday we went up against High Wycombe academy and had been warned of getting a hiding. Bowled first, first ball set the tone as one of my lads got in the way of me, as keeper, taking a skier, and the guy got a 52 ball 104 retired. Missed a one hander diving shortly after, and missed one I misjudged at mid off after I took the gloves off. Went for a formidable 331 in 40 overs... Bowled some seamers as my wrist tendon has gone again, took some punishment but a couple of edges nearly went to hand. In our reply I opened up having been warned they had some quick bowlers. Openers were sharp but the next two quicks were amongst the quickest I've ever faced. After a 65 partnership first up we lost 3 in an over, then i put on 48 with number 5 before being castled for 68 off 69, 9x4 and a big straight six two balls before being bowled. Ended up 143ao, but everyone stuck at it and enjoyed themselves despite being slaughtered.

Had a recall to the firsts for league ko against Knotty Green tomorrow, and then for next Saturday as well, so can go in feeling good at the crease and with the ball for the first time ever in the firsts.

Played five innings.  Been given out LBW when I have hit it twice.  Given out caught behind when it hit my pad.  Seriously questioning why I play this sport when it is presided over by the deaf and blind octogenarians.

What with breaking my thumb in pre-season training, last Saturday was meant to be my first game of the season.

So naturally I've been off work ill since last Tuesday and I was sent home today. Hopefully by this Saturday I'll be better and finally get my first game of the season under my belt. Feels as if I've been unable to play forever with setback after setback  :(

Hopefully you will be okay for Saturday there's Nothing more frustrating than being sidelined that said upto now weather wise you haven't miss much.

It couldn't decide whether to drizzle and just rain yesterday but seeing as we were playing on an artificial pitch and wicket, the game went on.

Not ideal for a spinner so I thought I'd mix it up a bit with a quick arm ball. Not wanting it to slip out of my hand, it was the first ball I have ever bowled that went backwards. Long on had to pick it up.

Looking at it that way has made it more tolerable. I found going and scoring more frustrating than not going to the ground.

Week 1 - lost by 138 runs (I did the scorebook)
Week 2 - lost by 168 runs (long trip for an away game, I had a week off)
Week 3 - rained off (ironically the only away game we have this year that isn't at least 45 minutes away!)

If I counted the pre season I've only missed a maximum of 4 games, which doesn't sound that bad. Making up for it now though, I down to play Satuday, Sunday and Monday this weekend  :D

Yes it's been cold, the rain gets on your glasses when trying to face someone swinging it like 1960's London, and With a wet ball it's more like the game the French play when they lob those heavy steel balls against a smaller ball.boule I think but I stand to be corrected.

So perfect comeback time, June forecast is flaming and your tooled up with some serious bats.
Good luck  :)

The 2s skipper rants and raves about anyone and anything so that sounds about right for him! Even when they win he'll find something someone did wrong. He's actually a decent bloke in the bar afterwards, plus he's also the groundsman. I heard our umpire didn't give a "plumb" leg before but when I found out who was umpiring I wasn't overly surprised as he has a habit of not giving plumb ones out but at the same time will usually give 1 or 2 shockers a game (think missing leg stump by a long way...). Apparently they weren't too happy with your umpire either but I can't remember what they told me now - also said he stormed off without shaking hands.

2 games in 2 days for me this weekend, which should be fun, although I'm unsure about being classed as a 'veteran' for the the 2nd game!!
