Managed to do this to my knee...

It happened in the 3rd over when diving at the boundary to save a couple of runs. Turns out it wasn't worth it ad we lost by 130 runs. It's bloomin painful and it's not very comfortable to live with at the mo. Hoping it's nothing more than badly bruised and swollen

Ouch!
I don't dive for anything after dislocating my knee a few years back

My knee dug in as I dived forward to flick the ball back. I've been trying to keep it iced and I'm not sure if I should be resting it or keeping it moving as I've read conflicting advice

The swelling needs to go down first.

Played Saturday, after 3 hours sleep after a night out for finishing first year at uni, and then a mad dash home in the morning.
They scored 170 from 38 overs after being 110-1 after 20. They were then threatening to bowl us all out for 90. Managed to win by 8 wickets from 35 overs, with myself going in at number 3 in first over, and scoring 69*. Bit of a slow start to my innings, but I honestly have not played straighter/better than I did for about 3 years, so was quite happy.
So moral of the story for me is, play cricket on 3 hours sleep more often .  :D

Played my first league game for ashorne on Saturday, sadly lost but nice to play with 3 other forum guys (4 of us in one team must be a record). Didn't get on to bowl but took a nice catch at mid on and finally got a few runs after scores of 1,3 and 8 in friendlies so to get 18 and some time in the middle was nice!

Than had he club 7 a side (see thread for details) where my bowling was ok until the semis!

Alan wasn't impressed by the constant appealing. He is a genuinely decent bloke, but as as I suspect Robbie would agree, getting an LBW out of him is like getting blood from a stone. In the 3/4 years he has umpired for us I think I've only managed to get half a dozen decisions from him. He doesn't give LBW if he has any shred of doubt, they have to be stone dead plumb for him to give them.

No problems with that as long as consistent with both sides which he is by the sounds of it.

Would much rather have an umpire turning down everything bar ones bang in front than giving some dodgy ones and being open to being labelled a cheat or a home team umpire etc.

After being questioned as to why I'm an all rounder on fantasy cricket, think I silenced the doubters on my 1s comeback after 2 years out the side.
Batted 8 after we won toss and batted. Lost 3 early wickets, then another 3 quickly a while later. Put on two decent partnerships as I made 40, top score of the innings and triple my previous best in the 1sts, out of 183ao.
Got 3/45 in the oppos chase as we bowled them out 7 short. Seamer got a 6fer including clean bowling 3 bats in one over, then I took a catch to break a partnership for his 5th. Brought back with 4 to take, had a two wicket over with a c&b, my first that has stuck for years and a decent one handed dive as well, and a plum lbw plus a drop at mid off. One of our colts then took a spectacular boundary catch in front of the pavilion whilst receiving a barrage of verbals from the opposition back in the hutch already.
In midweek made 0* off 2 and got 2/6 in 4 legit balls.

You were playing Pinkneys weren't you? Sound like a bunch of nobs if they're abusing boundary riders let alone a colt.

We had an off day with the bat but nearly pulled it back with the ball. A sitter was dropped in the covers at 40-4 which completely changed the tone of their innings. Had we held that I think we would have defended the 111 we were rolled for.

No I'm currently in York until the weekend, why? By any chance, do any of you Hertfordshire boys happen to have an umpire that is around on Saturday, we have none and are in desperate need of one!

I was just wondering if our paths had crossed, I played for Aldenham in that game.

Tour weekend was a bit drab. Saturday was a double wicket, can't say I particularly enjoyed anything about it. Didn't play Sunday, Monday down to bat 9 and wasn't needed.

After not bowling properly for 3 seasons, we were that short that I was called upon to bowl in all three games at the weekend. Ended up taking 9 wickets over the three games, but I did get milked quite a lot on Sunday and Monday. In fairness Monday was a T20 so was expected to go for a few.

I just struggled with my line at times, bowling left arm over out-swingers I felt I pushed the ball across too far and could just be milked for ones and twos.

Yeah we were. They started cheering as they thought the guy had cleared Richard, and then started heckling as it became apparent he had a chance of catching it.

We have Binfield this weekend, and our 2s are away at theirs with a chance to build a gap at the foot of the table.

I played their 2s when I first joined Taplow and they were horrid then. Sounds like it runs through the club if the 1s are like that too. You reckon they'll be relegation candidates at end of the season? Also, are we the only ones who are baffled by the fixtures this year?! In 2 weeks time we'd have played 3 sides twice yet haven't played others at all.

Binfield are a decent bunch of lads, probably the most socialable bunch too after a game. They've got their uni lads back so were stronger than when we faced them first game of the season.

We can't really say much as they rolled us on Saturday but their bowling attack isn't great. They're missing Matt Hayman, who is the best bowler in the league in my opinion, but they don't have much after the opening pair. Batting is decent but like most sides in the league they're prone to self destructing and getting themselves out.

I haven't played their 2s but our 2s said they were a bit rubbish when they played them.
