Won again today so 3 from 3 on Sundays and side is unbeaten this season so far. We lost the toss but got put in on a lovely looking deck that had been covered from all the rain and was rock hard. As splay was due to start rain came not heavy but consistant and delayed start by 90 mins. When we started we went off like a train after losing my opening partner 4th ball bounced out by there quick. Myself and No3 put on 50 in 9 overs in a 35over game with my scoring 32. Got chirped by the opening bowler for having one shot when I drove him through mid on, then mid off then cut and pulled all boundaries in one over unfortunately I thought I was seeing everything like a beach ball and cut a ball that was a touch to close to me straight to point. We then had a mini collapse until our No7 scored 29 from 9 balls and then lower order got blown away by there quick and we made 140

In reply they lost opener 2nd ball caught in gully and then there gun bat managed to slap a full toss to cover and after that it was a wicket an over pretty much until 8 & 10 put on a few until a stunning 1handed diving catch from yours truly behind the stumps ended that. Possibly one of my best ever catches. They finished all out for 83 with me taking 2 catches so another good win.

Loving my B&S at the moment it was also used by our No7 who smoked the 29 rapid runs with a couple of huge 6's and he is trying to buy it from me now but that's 1 stick I won't be selling any time soon

Played today for our academy team, was only playing as a fielder until we turned up and saw they had put there sunday 1st team out so ended up bowling and batting.
Came in at the end and hit 10* off 4 balls including a tidy 6! we ended up on 200 from our 40, which was 40 short of par!
I bowled 10 overs, 1-30. Had two missed stumpings at there bloke who proceeded to score 100 but thats were the youngsters learn and I enjoyed playing with a lot of the boys who I coach anyway, so all in an enjoyable sunday.

Played a decent side today - who had a decent opening bowler and a very good batting line up - after losing our opener early on for 0 (he has scored 686 runs already this season) we thought it could be a very short afternoon, but myself and the other opener put on 109 before he was bowled trying to press on, myself and the number 4 then put on 40 odd before I ran myself out for 59 the number four went on to hit a quick fire 45 and we finished on 217 for 7 off our 40. Then in response their 1s skipper and 1s opening batsman put on a quick fire 50 off about 8 overs before the skipper nicked off and was snaffled behind the stumps by yours truly, their other opener looked in decent touch before dragging one on from his thigh pad, and then it was a wicket fest for us getting them 6 down in very quick time before their 7  (used to play for us and scored runs for fun and is the clubs leading runscorer and wicket taker) and 8 put on 110 ish both reaching 50, our opening quick then came back on to dismiss their 8 but we dropped chance after chance off the number 7. 14 to win off the last over and they couldn't quick get over the line. A thoroughly enjoyable day.

Is the 16 year old Drage? Think he played against us last year and he looked very good but was quite small then. Has he got a bit stronger over the winter? Assuming it's who I'm thinking of then he will be a good bat. If Jonny bowls big wides on height then he might easily go for 6 wides at their place!

You should beat Waltham but they're an odd side. Nice bunch of lads but decent on paper who don't always play to their potential. At least not usually until August when they're in another relegation dogfight!

Can't you two be given your own thread - it's a fascinating insight into your own personal league but all this - "Boffer wasn't playing but Timbo and Tonker got on with it - mind you that young bowler for Titwank-on-the-hill will give your lot a tough time at our place on the 9th providing Smeggy Smith plays" rather makes my head spin :)

I thought that Titwank-on-the-hill was quite a slippery character!

Had the delights of playing away vs @Vitas Cricket last Sat, think they 'forgot' the covers as it was a win the toss win the game type of game. Top order really struggled, we were 35-4 off 23... Seriously tedious stuff! I came in at 7 and got 20 odd but on 50 to give us 112 to bowl at.

They knocked it off no dramas for 1 I think.

Must say they were the nicest bunch we've played this year, was nice to not get abused every ball for a change.

Haha yes I get tired of some of the nonsense some players/teams in our league come out with. It's constant, usually abusive rather than clever/witty and usually I just switch off.

Covers were on but I'm sure you noticed the slope, with heavy rain through the week gravity takes over and the moisture runs down the slope

We had the same the week before against Foxton, pretty much the same pitch and conditions, they won the toss and won the game

Who did I stump? He started outside his crease and made no attempt to get back, then just stood there looking confused! Made me chuckle

Haha! That was our project whackit! Unfortunately he'd got in from a uni night out at 8:30 that morning in Warwick and had to get woken up to be told he was batting, he was absolutely bladdered! He hit 50 off about 12 balls against Eating Scrotum first game of the season. I imagine you did him a favour stumping him to be fair, he was a mess!

Playing against a side that were 4 divisions higher today but due to going down to one team league rules state clubs play in what was originally  the the one team division  of the league  if we can get eleven on the pitch we should do okay  these matches can be a mismatch though as the division is padded out with third teams.

Well I'm really not sure how to feel after today's game.
We played the top of the league side who are unbeaten this season. Our skipper won the toss and elected to bowl first on a damp looking deck (which we thought would get better as it dried out).

They posted 208-9 from their 50 overs. None of their players reached a half century, but one of the openers made 41 and the number 8 a good 45. Our game plan was to keep them below 200, but we definitely felt we were in with a chance of chasing them down.

Our run chase started slowly but surely, but ultimately we were in with a sniff for almost the whole innings. We went into the last over 9 down with 24 needed to win. Sadly we were 190 all out so lost by 18 runs. There were a lot of positives to take and we certainly gave the league leaders a scare!

On a personal note I finally bowled a decent spell, going 10 overs, 4 maidens, 3-24. I also made 5* at the end of the innings, and although it was in a losing  effort it was nice to feel leather on willow out in the middle (albeit only briefly).

Bagged a win today in a 2nd v 3rd league fixture, rolled them out for 112 and chased them down for the loss of 3. Cheeky 45* to boost my tally for the season to just over 200 runs so far and inter club fantasy cricket points 👍
