Last Wednesday I broke a finger on my left hand T work, and thought sod it I'll still play as our 2nd xi only had ten so new I was replaceable.

Still ended up opening the batting, 12 overs 8 ball each, and for the first time ever I carried my bat!!

A miserly 46 was all I made, but off only 45 balls still means it's a striker rate that would upset @ProCricketer1982 ...........

This weekend, yeah rained off everywhere.

Even I go at 100+ SR in slap and tickle. That's what that game is about. As long as you enjoyed it then I don't suppose it matters about the others.

Managed to get myself another 50 this week (64); not helped by the opposition putting 7 men on the boundary, restricting me to 1s or 2s... with the outfield wet there was barely chance to hit many boundaries, so milking was the way to go. Then to top it off, got one that kept low after the rain and was out LBW from a ball I'd gone back to pull!

We were supposed to play the only other unbeaten side in our league on Saturday, unfortunately they pulled out on Wednesday citing a lack of players. Really disappointing as we have been looking forward to the game since our team and theirs were the teams to beat in the league.

Got a replacement fixture and they won the toss and elected to bat first on a ridiculously wet wicket, eventually being all out for 148, which we chased down with only one wicket lost.

I lent a team mate my bat and he hit a lofted drive over extra cover for the winning runs. Unfortunately the bat came back to me like this:

On Sunday we had a friendly. I opened and got 82, which was some achievement as I was in tatters following getting a bit carried away watching the Anthony Joshua fight on Saturday night.

Perhaps got away with a thrashing on Saturday. A combination of a good batting track and very short boundaries (especially the off-side in my particular case) saw the opposition post 275-4. However 5 overs into our innings, the heavens absolutely opened up and a few minutes later the match was off. I got my full 12 overs this Saturday but a greenish batting track and short boundaries are not optimum conditions for off-spin although I did get a couple of wickets. Didn't feel quite so bad afterwards to learn our 1st XI played there last season and conceded 420.

Yesterday played a friendly in Leeds, batted first and it was one of those matches that we seemed to pick out a fielder with every attacking shot we played. We only scored 79 (I was 0 not out) and opposition knocked it off for just 2 wickets.

Massive local derby and top of table clash in Saturday. Rain was the winner after 16 overs, however still enough time for me to miss a bouncer from the quickest bowler in the league and take it flush on jaw and a nice swollen face.  carried on batting before rain came and swelling has reduced now just nicely bruised.

Sunday in the cup made 50 before rain spoilt there reply. Me and their captain agreed on a bowl out before conditions got even worse. We won 2-0 and I was one of our players to hit, I keep normally so was good to get a chance to show our bowlers how it should be done. Our opponents in next round and local rivals were also there watching so was nice to give them a little salute when I knocked off-stump over

We were midway through our innings on Saturday (98-5 from 23.3) when the heavens opened. My own tally had been a disappointing 10, opening the batting before driving at one and getting caught at gully. Pretty frustrating. We were very short, 8 first team regulars out. We were the only game in our league to be called off and the team one place above us in third lost, so due to the average system we have gone back up to 3rd (about 1.5pts per game ahead of the team in 4th now). Our second team game was cancelled as our pitch was pretty much underwater, and their cup game on the Sunday was also cancelled. The 2s captain won the coin toss so they're in the quarter finals which is good for the club. The first team have their cup quarter final this coming weekend.

Was one over away from bowling quite possible the tightest spell ever for a leg spinner on Sunday. 8 over 5 maidens 2wickets 6 runs... Unfortunately my last went for 15 which ruined the figures a little!

We got saved by the rain saturday. Oppo put us in and we were all out for 74 me getting 22. Was not the easiest playing a young county bowler on deck doing a bit. Oppo were 64 for 3 when the rain prayers were answered.

Rain affected game saw us getting a winning draw. I didn't play as broken my little finger which might need an op to sort out (the joys of opening bowlers bowling leg side filth!). Didn't want to make it worse keeping so scored instead. We got 175 in 39 and oppo were 100-9 off 33 having been 40-7 from 14. As usual we couldn't dismiss the tail plus a slip catch put down which would have won us the game. Week off this week and see how doctor's appointment on finger goes before seeing if I can play following week - as a bat if not keeper.

Not been able to buy a run this season... Think I'm on about 170 for the season.

But we've been that short that I've ended up having to bowl my little in-swingers in four games (I've played around 13 games)... And up until last week I was second in the bowling stats. But in the rich tradition of cricket clubs, I don't get a look in when the "all-star" bowlers are back in the team...
