Poor weekend last weekend for our club. Counted 10 would be first team players unavailable but managed to get a side together (not all too bad).
Won the toss and bowled, their opener chanced his arm and made 113 (every miss hit etc landed safe). We didn't bowl very well early on and the team we played are almost guaranteed promotion now, but we bowled them out for 253. 2 stumpings and 2 run outs helped. I bowled 5 overs 0-27 (first 3 went for 2 runs). I got more and more wound up, how do you keep your mind on keeping everyone in check as captain and bowling....?

We were soon 24-4 in 11 overs, top order just obliterated by some average bowling. I made 39, and our number 9 made 58* which meant we got to 200-8 at the end. I got out LBW slog sweeping towards our short boundary. Frustrating but meh decent little bat. Resounding loss but full bonus points so a positive.

Lots of players back this week thankfully so hopefully a different result!

@Sivlar13 my mate played against you on Saturday (he got 78*) and recognised you. Said you looked far too good to play at that standard and your bat looked very very good!

That's very kind of him to say so haha was driving back from holiday that day so didn't get back in time to play for the 1s so rocked up to play 2s at about 2.30 instead. You mate batted very well, I managed to shell a chance at long off to help him out too haha and that stick is an absolute monster, goes like the clappers!

Tough chance running forward but pretty lazy on my part, in my defence I'm a keeper  :D yeah that's fair enough, our skip placed fields real well to stop boundaries which eventually won us the game.

Well i had a MOM last saturday! best game so far! (also first game with out a hangover...)

100 for 0 turned into 119 for 6 :-( inept middle order.

Batting at 9! with 20 overs to go, the weight of the team on my shoulders!

Batted responsible 34 out in last over, told to clear the trees for more runs, total 214 all out!

Openeing Bat, had no shots, just swung (he was also the opening bowler!), caught him running backwards over my head, diving catch (was thinking what did i have for brekki!)

10 overs in, Skip gives me the nod! perfect swinging conditions!

First ball inswinging yorker! thank you very much.

Short spell of 5 overs 4 maidens, 4 runs for 5 wickets, in my fith over i pulled my obique which i have now seen doctors which is a grade 2 tear (thank god i have a free week).

Self proclaimed MOM

This has to go down in the worst season of my life, started out playing division 1, currently now playing division 7! Waste of a summer

Tough luck but don't disrespect Div 7, they are just as keen to win even if they lack a bit of ability. Do your job and get back up.

Not disrespecting division 7, just a waste of my own time when I could go and earn money instead!
It's not as competitive as I would enjoy and stuff

What a game!

My side batted first and posted 197-8 off their 50 overs. That means I got to put my posts on but didn't get as far as the middle. The openers got 68 and 40 so we felt we should have posted a few more than we did.

In reply we bowled the opposition out for 113 in 29 overs.
Our opening bowler went 10 overs 4-33 and the spinners were bought on. Our 16 year old left arm spinner went 4.5 overs, 1 maiden 3-13 and I did okay with 4 overs, 2 maidens 3-4.

The wicket was a bit dry, but I'm still telling everyone who will listen that I should be in the England Test side! My first ball pitched well outside off, was left and nearly bowled the batsman. My 2nd ball started outside off, beat the inside edge and bowled him leg stump! My last wicker also turned from outside off to beat the inside edge and bowl the batsman. Not bad for a "non-turning off spinner"

My team managed to restrict the opposition to just 276-0 from 39 overs before they declared after we won the toss and decided to bowl
One opener got 135*
The other 123*
My bowling was 0-52 after having 3 chances dropped off my bowling

In reply I opened the batting, getting 31, LBW trying to charge their skipper in the first over of the new ball
As a team we got to 234-7, with our captain getting an unbeaten 50 and our Aussie getting 46 after some controversy surrounding him being bowled when the bowler knocked a bail off during his action
"Was Finns law enforced in div 8 of TVL?"
The bowler was adamant that it didn't apply to our league however he was overruled
That meant that my highest score of the season was my first knock after our Eversley net @ppccopener ! Definitely got me back into form

My batting is going downhill rapidly although it probably wasn't the best idea to walk out this afternoon with a new bat having not netted with it beforehand. I have gone for something lighter at a fraction over 2.10 (my Nixon is 3lb) but gave up with it after 10-12 deliveries and went back to the Nixon. For the 2nd week running I got absolutely nailed on the toe although this week it was the backfoot and I was plumb LBW. We posted 133 which on a bowler-friendly wicket should have been enough but I'm afraid some of our bowlers sent down some absolute garbage. I ended up wiith 3-20 off 9 overs but we lost by 5 wickets.

After a four week gap between matches, due to league re structuring and rain, it was good to get out and play.
The net down at eversley meant I'd at least felt bat on ball, and with @ppccopener batting tips still fresh in my mind, I was determined to play my shots.

Oppos batted first on only the third fairly hard track I've played on since moving down sarf four years ago
They posted 234 mostly off the edge of the bat, ffs!
Showed again this year, that we are struggling to bowl teams out, it ain't rocket, if you can't or won't bowl wicket to wicket, your not going to bowl teams out.

I opened our batting against a lovely ex Cherwell league ball, that their captain had dug out from somewhere, it came off the bat lovely, and I managed to lose it first ball in the next field.
The difference in decent balls can't be put into words, and we are as guilty as some in using crap hard balls.
Anyway, hit a few more, including a lovely six, before missing a straight one that kept low,(can't play back forever)

We eventually knocked them off with three wickets left and a few overs
Was a really good game, on a half decent wicket.

And a big big thanks to the guys who came down to eversley for the net
And well done Cam and batbuddy, cracking bowling figures

Good to see some of the 'Eversley boys' doing well, the game is so much more enjoyable giving a few a really good thump even if it's only 20 or 30 odd @Northern monkey and better bowling back @Batbuddy99 and @WalkingWicket37

Personally now 4 low scores for me so the elusive mistress that is form may need a present(another bat!!) to come back.

However I did skipper after our captain has dropped out for a couple of weeks and the captaincy seemed to come back naturally which was good and our team went top of the league, beating the leaders.
