Okay I've officially written off 2016!

I finally got a half decent bat at training last night, and had comments from my teammates about how "solid" I was looking. One of our new recruits for the season who hasn't seen new bat before even asked why I'm not up the order on a Saturday.
That doesn't sound too bad, right?

At the end of my session I was facing a lad who's just joined the club. He was fairly nippy but erratic. Long story cut short - I took a beamer from him full on the elbow! It's very sore but is sort of moving and doesn't seem to be broken.

Hopefully in able to play on Saturday, but I'm now thinking "why always me?"

if you have seen the (brilliant) film Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, i'm sure you have, there's a line in it:

''for gods sake can everyone stop getting shot''

you need to stop getting hit.  :)  in the meantime an elbow guard is a must for the rest of the season.

We have a pretty quick left arm seam bowler in our club who quite likes to bowl a few bouncers and being a left arm bowler they are at quite a tricky to play. As a bowler I don't get too much batting time in our limited evening training session but I have faced him a couple of times and he is a handful to face. Last weekend I faced former England bowler Amjad Khan who was bowling at full pace, I'll be perfectly honest I'd rather face Amjad Khan than our left armer as he's not as quick but the left arm over angle is something that I really don't enjoy facing

Bowlers were rotated, we have a varied attack with strong spin options and left and right arm seamers. We always had at least one slip, gully, plus catchers at short leg, silly mid off, so our captain, who took a blinder at short leg, wasn't being negative. Potentially a really bold thing to do would have been to win the toss and bowl then chase rather than failing to whittle away for 50 overs.
A bit of both really, our catching has been shocking, but to show no intent whatsoever was the main frustration.

Just seen Penn's side for the game, they were missing half of their 1st team including their 3 best batsmen and main spinner so no surprise that they didn't bother chasing against a title rival.

Played in our T20 final last night and won by 7 wickets.

Lost the toss and oppo batted first was a bad decision as our opening attack of whist both are solid 75mph blew them away both openers caught behind by myself and others bowled leaving them 17-4 from 6 overs middle order out a few runs together and go them to 102 all out. Our fielding was excellent

In reply we just batted very well but without racing away. Openers but on 40 before I went in at 3, rotated the strike until we needed 10 off 2 I as out caught on boundary and number 4 then hit 3 successive 4's and game was over. Unbeaten through the league stage so the best side won. Averaged 42 in the T20 league so happy with that as bush bash is t my strongest format at a decent strike rate as of 102

55 off 51 balls opening against a tour side and then 'accidentally' walked past one and was bowled.. Sadly, our three was a utter waster and scored 160* just being greedy. Safe to say he won't get another go for a year or two up the order

Where's Amjad Khan at now? I remember facing him when he was playing for Kent. I think he was at Bexley as one of their assigned players many years ago. @SOULMAN1012 you may have faced him a bit too perhaps seeing as though we played in Kent when we were younger :)

He was playing at Lordswood. I have faced him and it wasn't nice at all left arm and rapid, didn't mind shacking up a batsmen either at club level. No idea where he is now as I last played in Kent 2 seasons ago.

He's still at Lordswood, I faced him in a development game, he batted down the order but he does got a long ball. He's a decent lad though as after the game he was giving some advice to one of our young seamers which was a decent thing to do

Middle fingers broke in two places,(I carried on fielding for 15 overs!)
That's probably my season gone, and loss of full movement and arthritis to look forward to in the finger

Unlucky mate. Buy yourself a Blueroom bat to cheer yourself up :)
