Na the face happened during fielding, knocked me out, broke my nose and torn my lip. I still can't properly move my lips ( every image you get in your head, it's not like that.) You can't see it though.
But I went out to bat later that day.
But now I've had full ankle ligament reconstruction, after 3 years of going to hospitals with ankle pain and getting told I was over reaction. 3 hospital's including the professional sports hospital so where the Dutch football players go etc.
everyone told me to keep playing and stop moaning. At a certain point I got rum out and I walked of and didn't go near my captain and walked up to my parents who were watching took my gear of and cried... I was in so much pain, I was so tired. I was done with it.
My dad got me to go with him to his physio, and he looked at me once. And sent me straight away to the surgeon. Within 2 months I had surgery.
Now after all that turned out my legs had been over compensating so long for trying to not have pain, that I have cartilage damage in both knees and both ankles.
So it's mostly scary due to the association of pain. And just not had a cricket ball come at me at speed for a while.
You should try using your hands to catch the ball, not your face 😜
I'm fortunate that I've never been hit, the worst I've had is edging the ball into my box. Very rarely bounces above waist height in Yorkshire and I'm a touch player, never play pulls so no chance of the ball getting anywhere near my face!
The important thing is that you're now pain free and playing! Crank the machine up to 95mph Brett Lee bouncers!
