Na the face happened during fielding, knocked me out, broke my nose and torn my lip. I still can't properly move my lips ( every image you get in your head, it's not like that.) You can't see it though.
But I went out to bat later that day.

But now I've had full ankle ligament reconstruction, after 3 years of going to hospitals with ankle pain and getting told I was over reaction. 3 hospital's including the professional sports hospital so where the Dutch football players go etc.
everyone told me to keep playing and stop moaning. At a certain point I got rum out and I walked of and didn't go near my captain and walked up to my parents who were watching took my gear of and cried... I was in so much pain, I was so tired. I was done with it.
My dad got me to go with him to his physio, and he looked at me once. And sent me straight away to the surgeon. Within 2 months I had surgery.

Now after all that turned out my legs had been over compensating so long for trying to not have pain, that I have cartilage damage in both knees and both ankles.

So it's mostly scary due to the association of pain. And just not had a cricket ball come at me at speed for a while.

You should try using your hands to catch the ball, not your face 😜

I'm fortunate that I've never been hit, the worst I've had is edging the ball into my box. Very rarely bounces above waist height in Yorkshire and I'm a touch player, never play pulls so no chance of the ball getting anywhere near my face!

The important thing is that you're now pain free and playing! Crank the machine up to 95mph Brett Lee bouncers!

On the plus side you stopped the ball so not a total fail

I've not netted yet with season 2 weeks away as work been taking me everywhere but played indoor over winter so your ahead of me this year

Depends on where your confidence is lowest batting or bowling/fielding

The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

It was one of those over used football fields. And it had a funny bounce so it went past my hands under my nose.

Hahaha you just mean to say the Yorkshire lads don't have enough power right?

Haha, I shouldn't say it anyways. If the Yorkshire nomads see that I'll have trouble in Poland.

Never dive away for a ball always give it your all.
Since I was a itty bitty tiny girl (been going to the cricket club since I was 2 weeks old)  I've been told to never let a ball pass me.
So I didn't

Have fun in Poland! Go see Kraków if you get a chance. Amazing place and mental nightlife!

I admire your bravery. You'll find me hiding at fine leg for my own safety.  :D

Let us know how you get on.

We are in warshaw, if I get the chance I'll go check it out.

I just got a phone call from my physio, 2 more weeks of testing during practise and then he says if it goes well, that I'm back.
