Coloured Pads
« on: April 12, 2016, 12:09:14 PM »

I wanted a pair of coloured pads a few seasons ago when my old club had a coloured one day kit. My new club currently doesn't have a coloured kit at all so I stopped looking for some. I have been curious for a while anyone that owns a pair of colour pads, what do you think of them? Are they worth the money? and How common are they in your one day/T20/development leagues?

I have been using coloured pads for years (five years) and I love them. I absolutely hate (yes HATE) spray painting or even Clads as it looks tacky and atrocious.

I always found them to be worth the money. The ones which I was slightly disappointed were Kookaburra CCX which were made for a sponsored player. It was that the colour came off if ball had hit a spot unlike SS, BAS or even Puma where there was no discolouration.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I would presume they're used quite a fair bit - I haven't personally used coloured pads myself but I shifted over 40 pairs in a month a few years back so there must be leagues out there using them! Price wise you pay for what you get as with anything, expect to pay £50+ for pads of decent quality (having had a pair of the cheap OS pads in my hand I can tell you they're not worth wasting your money on!)

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm so hoping the discussions we had last year will become more realistic and that we buy so coloured kit as I would love to justify purchasing coloured pads in the near future.

We are getting uniforms for our team after 3 years deliberation this year. So thought of spray painting or buying clads initially but after reading some of reviews here and also on google, don't want to spoil my BAS players Pads. So, thinking of ordering colored pads from OLS.

I would highly recommend you don't order the OLS pads, they really are rubbish to put it bluntly (especially compared to a pair of BAS players!). I would recommend having a look through some of the smaller brands on here and around to see if they have anything they could offer you.

Sure Neoncricket.

I agree to that regarding OLS, but ordering a pair of pads from forum Sponsors is that, it will highly expensive for me as i live in USA and the exchange rate added shipping makes it more expensive. Problem for me to order something from the Softs manufacturers from India is that the turn around time is too late as I need large men's pads and they make it to order. But Now I will look at clads probably till i get the proper color pads from manufacturers.

IMO clads are not cheap. Check out cricketstoreonline.com ... now they have cheaper version for under $50. I paid bomb for pro pads couple of years ago :(

True Kaartman, didn't realize that. guess have to find out a used team pads to color them. ;).
Cricketstoreonline stuff is super expensive. worst case is that being on this forum, I do identify all the goods he sells and make out that he is selling them for at least 5 time more its price. Best is to mostly avoid any US retailers. Try it from manufacturers or Bat makers, to find better deal and options.

If the OLS blank pads I have are anything to go on they're not rubbish.
Sure they're not up to the standard of some top end branded stuff, but for the sub £20 price you can't grumble. I actually really like the OLS brandless soft goods, as you pay peanuts and get something of half decent quality. yes, you can do better, but you can also do worse. As cheap and cheerful softs they're hard to beat in my opinion.

Agreed....OLS softs are very inexpensive. Unfortunately, they don't carry my club colors.
