Alternative to toe guard
« on: April 22, 2016, 06:58:17 PM »

So this winter I couldn't motivate myself to do the 80 mile round trip to the nearest cricket store for a toe guard. My season is due to start tomorrow can anybody recommend something to protect the toe in the absence of a guard? Thanks

Ronseal yacht varnish seals the toe and repels water.

Apart from toe guards which I don't like I have always used shoe goo.
I wondering if someone who has used the goo and a varnish, what do you find the advantage of one over the other.
I would assume the goo helps more with the physical damage? but the varnish would look better??

I definitely prefer shoo goo to boat varnish, but it also takes a few more goes to get the hang of it.

I prefer outdoor varnish as it's easier to apply cleanly. It might need re-applying every few weeks but it takes a few seconds with next to no effort. It's also diet cheap at about £3.50 a ton which lasts forever
