i never did just direct on the handle although if you want a thicker feel use the tape first and apply the grip on top of it.

Rather than putting duct tape underneath why not put another grip under instead. Surely the duct tape would increase the slipperiness?

Whats the point of the Xtrax grip?

Extra gripiness reduces twist and therefore more value from your shots...

I think you will need gloves with the silicon panels on the palm to enjoy any benefit, I was impressed with them when we tried it out 18 months ago Nobair.

Yep the Aero one's were good...  These are Lekka's, I imagine they work on the same principal and a tube of silicon on an old set of gloves may help [a little bit on the palm between the thumb and forefinger]....

I have some Aero's and Xtrak grips here but have not tried them yet as did not want to waste them, having said that i do have a pair of the Aero gloves so could apply one out of interest.

I'll go and get the scales, kids did not wake up until 8.45am so had a lie in, very lazy of me, will be sorting stuff here and make an early start in the morning but the new bat is now Thursday.

Xtrax feels real nice in the hands, the grip weighs in at 1 ounce, it needed a bit of fiddling to get it on the bottom of the handle. [I need some different colour grip tape :-)]

as an fyi, I've asked & asked a few times about getting some aero grips but not received any as yet, so I can't compare them.  I have seen one at the Lords show but it was a while back!

Grip looks good - kind of reminds of a squash grip but with the extra raised ridges on it.

Is it as thick as two standard grips - would it save an oz perhaps for those who like thicker grips??

I like them, i used a similar style hockey grip which worked well untill it got soaking wet and then the friction between the grip and the palms of the gloves became non-existant - however, i cannot imagine it would be the case with these grips. I will be investing in a few for my bats......but perhaps not in white If only they had pink........

I was thinking last night about the binding - what in technical terms does it actually do - i understand that it provides a bond between the handle and blade - but i was thinking is there another way of 'binding' a handle without using so much twine and glue and therefore perhaps minimise the weight (or even use this method at all) - or would this be pointless???

bascially the binding is there to hold the handle together. The amount bound on the blade itself will not really help the handle stay in the blade. 

Weight isn't really an issue with the glue and binding, it sometimes is with grips [as a bat maker].  You make a bat and then someone requests the heaviest grip known to man.... You put your head in your hands and sob, "where will I find 1.5oz now!!"

The said the binding, grip etc is your counter balance and helps you to balance the bat, so it is both a pain in (No Swearing Please) and beneifical at the same time.  The other thing binding helps with is the whippy, stiffness handle debate!!!!  This is dependant on the binding type used though

Yep around 2 grips in size, real good grip on them and should stop some twisting. Talisman popped in last night and saw it on a the handle, I think he liked it as well. He's recently seen the Aero as well so maybe be able to comment on it....  By the way he had 3 cracking bats with him [one a refurb] that will be absolute barnstormers!!!!!

Thanks for answering the questions and more - does the wavex handle require the same binding out of interest?

One of those bats doesnt happen to be a laver by any chance? Looked like a good stick that one.

Look forward to knocking a few balls around with the prototype  - i like the idea of middling the ball more often than not, would confuse everyone i play against though
