I think it's just adding more hassle to the amateur game personally, even as someone who embraces innovation and am more than happy to see it.

If you've hit the ball it shouldn't require electronic devices st amateur level to prove you're out. It's hard enough to teach people to umpire properly as it is without having them be required to have a phone on them....the temptation to be on whatsapp/twitter etc at square leg will be too big instead of watching the game and doing the job your out there to do.

Has anyone ever had a modern smartphones battery last long enough to run throughout a full days play? Umpires will be calling out for the portable charger at drinks.

If it is proven to work then get it into the game, too many cheats out there so it's certainly required

Like i said though even just as a training aid and sack it off at amateur level and just use it at county and county 2nd XI level

Absolute waste of time, they dont even get it right every time in the professional game even at test level so why bother with amatuer stuff. Just a money making gimmick IMO.

Umpiring mistakes and percieved 'cheats' are unfortunately all part of the game, its the same in every sport, human error exists and at times will affect the match and outcome

What next? Cameras on tripods at both ends of wicket and square leg so umpires can sit at home umpiring the game and using reviews and replays to determine decisions, I dont think so

Agreed, we play the sport for recreation. There is no financial gain from playing it or scoring 100 at amateur level...it was bad enough during yesterday IPL when the umpire took a full 5 mins to make a decision over a catch on the boundary from Chris Lynn!
