Hi guys,

I need to get my brother a new bat for this season i need your help.

I was thinking about getting him a kahuna pro or one of the GN bats.

Reason for that is i want to see how they perform compare to some of the other top of the line bats I've used over the year.
If i have to rate the bats on performs it would be.

1) Hammer ST plat 2.10
2) Affinity Carbine 2.10
3) SS ton DB edition 2.11
4) B3 Crown 2.10
5) H4L Custom 2.9
6) BlackCat Custom

Could be fun to see how off shelf bats would rank according to me ofc.

He uses weight around 2.9 Low/mid middle he is a powerfull hitter can clear any boundary.

Now the bats I've been eyeing.

If you didn't care about looks why have you selected all top grade?
I have a carbine, it is very good, I have a H4L NV, it is also very good. Out of the two I would go for the H4L though

In that weight the kaboom wrong be the Warner edition, it will just be the rubbish generic low middled option
The Warner edition has a minimum weight of around 2-12 if I remember correctly

The chimera is exclusive to Cricket direct, never seen one so can't really comment

Kahuna pro seems to be quite decent, seen one of two Kahuna's and the profile is nice, but have you thought about the Ghost? These seem to be raved about by some on here

I have theWarner Kaboom off the shelf model at 2-9 the one I have is mid middle it looks a big bat  due to the slight concaving and  has excellent ping.

Bats I have/had that certainly go and are certainly value for money.

I agree with @Jaffa. I recently purchased a B1 blank bat due to the lack of concaving and mid middle. I would definitely suggest Blank bats. For the quality of bats they are offering, the price point is brilliant and I haven't read single bad post about their bats yet. I'm sure Tai can sort you out with a perfect bat.

Regarding kook Ghost I've ask'd around and been told its g3 willow? And won't perform like a g1.

Saw that Direct cricket have pro option available in Ghost you think its worth giving a shot?

G3 can perform the same as or better than any G1 I don't know who the shop owner is but to me it sounds like he's trying to get you to buy a higher grade bat to get a bit more money out of you, H4L Devils are a great example of this as long as the bats pressed well they will perform regardless of grade, and as much stick as IJC may get for how strictly they stick to their hand picking policy and don't stock brands they can't pick from, it means they get some fantastic bats in every grade, so if I was you and wanted a ghost or any bat really in a lower grade IJC would be the place is turn

Plenty of other shops also handpick all the brands available to handpick, we just don't limit ourselves by not stocking GM, New Balance et al

@Wazi - GN Chimera is CricketDirect exclusive i believe. From what i am told its basically a GN e41 with new labels. Forum retailers would probably not have that in stock. From your rating sheet, i see that you have rated Hammer ST as your favorite. I can think of only two brands who will give u the exact same feeling - BlankBats B2 or B4 and H4L HellFire G1. Best part of the forum is that most of the retailers stock either BB and H4L bats. You can even reach these brands directly on the forum and see if they are having some kind of sale.

@tom line - I have got bats from Vitas, IJC and Uzi. Guess what immaterial of whether its hand picked or not, the bats perform really well. I think to a certain degree these retailers verify the stock they get from manufacturers who don't allow hand-picking.

@Wazi - Go for one of the forum retailers and you won't regret making that choice. Ask Jake @Vitas Cricket for Hunts County custom bat. He can get one made for u in a massive size (if low density cleft is available at Hunts).

As far as lower grades, I have owned a couple 
I've had gems from GM in 404 and 606 grade, that went as well as anything else I'd used.
The New Balance TC560 or DC580 ranges offer excellent value for money.
I wouldn't go near GN again personally, but that's just me.
A H4L Devil will go just as well as a G1.
SS/TON can do some good value lower end bats, but you could get an M&H reject for being too concaved! 
Value wise (this will be controversial) the Slazenger V800s are looking to be punching well above their weight this season.

Because i must admit the h4l custom i wasnt something i was very impressed with maybe some of the retailers have good ones because of handpicking.

Is it worth getting a Higher grade ghost?

A little update.

Spoke with Asad and went with one of his Black Mamba pro which was meant for Azhar Ali.

Will do a full review once i receive it.
