Sarah Taylor takes an indefinite break from cricket

Sad news, hope it isn't anything serious whatever the personal news is. With Edwards being retired last week this leaves a massive hole in the women's side

Bet the coach wishes he did not (No Swearing Please) on lottie now as I can see a recall coming as too big a hole to fill now in short term

Could be just a bit of burn out as they saying she could be available in mid june for some games....

but yes.....couldn't agree more on Charlotte Edwards. The whole situation leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Everyone comes to the end of their careers...it's how it's handled.

I'm sure something could of been negotiated this summer so both parties are happier and no-one gets dumped.

Personally I hate the culture of the super coach. They should be in the background. Players are responsible and they are the most important cog in the wheel

I bet you glad he has England closed shop mentality at woman's level is well documented and the fact they have not won anything in 7 years.

The mentality Taylor is displaying is the mentality england are trying to change.

All well and good trying to change but will his bosses back losses in short term from loosing 2 best players?

Or are there more who can step up?

I thought England where hopeless in the world cup watching and in truth the losses have been there

There are a few waiting in the wings agree Taylor is a big blow less so Edwards who has been world class for so so long and it was her choice to quit altogether

There are no women of Edwards and Taylor's quality. Not even close, the England women's team batting wise is a joke barring them two.

Brunt is fair and above anyone else bowling wise and she's getting on a bit and injury prone.. Didn't sound like Edwards choice, more forced to retire or you'll be dropped and face humiliation.

Didn't sound like it was her choice

She accepted she would loose captaincy but was told she would not be picked as a player either due to fitness

Guess we will see as could be a master stroke or massive implosion

There a few up and coming world beaters mate but Edwards was not fit enough and it showed in India..

I agree it has been handled poorly but i think is the right decision woman game has moved on Englands has not

Agree with you Azza it will either be that but it needed a shake up and it got one what will happen nobody knows but a change is never a bad thing...

Who? Genuinely interested as I've got a few girls I've been helping who do all the National stuff and having watched some games.. It's pretty dire. The county women's games are pretty dire too

Emma Lamb Lancashire bit away but is a great player and the kind who could come through is dynamic and plays a decent mens level Prem standard and is only 18 and is a quality player...
