Which bat to choose?
« on: May 16, 2016, 12:43:08 PM »

Hello.

I have decided to do away with my Redwood 'The Maker' Limited edition bat and have narrowed my search down to the following to replace it:

Charlie French - Fury
Aldred - Silver Sovereign (Grade 2)
Red Ink - Sirius X1

They are all in a similar price bracket and I like the pick-up of all of them but just can't make my mind up.

What are your experiences of these companies and if you were going to choose what would you go for?

Cheers

All nice looking bats, all I will say is if you decide to go with the Aldred Sov be very certain about what weight you would want, not pickup but weight, that is of course if that is important to you.

I have them all to hand and they all pick up well. The Aldred is slightly heavier than I would normally use but still picks up well. They all ping really well too (The Red Ink is already knocked in).

Decisions, Decisions!

I have never had a Red ink so cannot comment on them. As for the other 2, they are both excellent, quite different feeling, and different handle shapes, but both fantastic bats, don't think you will go wrong with either...

The more I pick them all up and look at them the harder it is to choose.

I think I may have to do rock, paper, scissors to decide  ;)

@Sivlar13 (not sure if I can put this) but the Redwood bat, a pair of players pads and players gloves are all on sale on Gumtree.

I do agree about the Red Inks though, they are really nice!

No experience to speak of with CF, but I have a Silver Sovereign and a Red Ink custom X1, both are lovely bats! Bought them at around the same time, the Red Ink has been scandalously underused due to how much I like the Aldred (Aldred was second hand off here so went straight out with it, which helped). Not sure I'd custom order an Aldred at the moment but if it's ready made and you like it then all is good, seriously high performing bats. John at Red Ink also makes a beautiful stick, either will serve you very well I'm sure. Best to buy both ;)

Can't believe you are not considering the Jedi 'Astramax'  as well. The bat of choice for the jobbing plasterer!

@FattusCattus nope, I have decided against a Jedi just for one reason or another.

If only there was a shop that sold specialist bats like these. A boutique if you like.

You might be able to get some free promotion if you mentioned them here also.
