England vs SL
« on: May 19, 2016, 10:06:15 AM »

So, only real meaning to this game is Cook getting 36 runs (32 to go) and being the youngest to 10,000 test match runs.. Well batted sir, especially as an opener.

Headingly looks empty!

hang on Pro......SL beat us last time, right at the end when Jimmy got caught, so there's a chance to put that right.

Agreed Pakistan is the real test, their bowlers are going to cause us problems.

are you not interested to see how James Vince gets on?

Trying to eyeball Cook and Hales helmets grill gap when they chat between overs to see if Cook's got a special lid or not...

We should really be stuffing SL to be fair.

I say - what a cautious batsman this Hales fellow is.

Not really, beating up a poor SL side isn't going to teach us anything about him, hales, Ali, Compton and co. Nah, only reason it won't be an easy 3-0 whitewash is the weather.

Too right. Beat SL and Pakistan this summer and England then hold every trophy they play for in Test Matches.

Plus seeing how Hales/Compton/Vince get on and whether they are still there come the end of the summer.

I expect England will give Vince an extended run. Compton i'm not sure about, I like him as a player and you need SOMEONE who can dig in a bit-our middle order all play aggressive.

Hales doesn't work for me,dont want to sound like a broken record but I cant think of an English opener who has played in one day style in tests in this Country. If he's not going to play naturally we might as well have Lyth back, or a proper opener at least, Robson maybe or someone else.

I feel for Hales, he is clearly trying to get in and get some runs, but this is not how he plays normally. I aint easy to slap bowling around at the top of the order....

Why is it drivel? His opinion is not more or less right than yours after all

Right let's see what issue Root has with batting at 3. Cos that's effectively what he's doing

2 in the over, Compton out for a duck. Not a bad start on debut for the medium pacer.

With all the gossip he wasn't going to make the squad before Titch was forced to retire, I can't help feel Compton's days in the side numbered (again)
