he has done well. at this moment if it wasn't for him we would be right in the soup.

our bowling should cause SL problems, but we gotta get some runs on the board first.

whenever I know YJB is batting I just really really want him to do well, more than the others.

can't explain it really, im not a Yorkshire fan.

I do remember his dad playing for York and England.

I hope you don't umpire :)

He isn't spinning it and it looked like it was always going down, have to give the benefit of the doubt so was never out

Wrong lbw, Matthews is medium pace last time I checked. Plus he said "great review". The spin one was a poor review.

is it too early to have YJB as a specialist batsman in the side?

Bairstow has to bat at five, its so screamingly obvious.  In South Africa, it was the fourth test before he was out other than slogging with number 11 in - and he has been batting that way for Yorkshire for the last 18 months.  Its remarkable how an order that features an assortment of Lyth, Lees, Williamson, Root, Ballance, Bresnan, Rashid and Leaning - all test players past present or future - can grind and tough it out, and Bluey walks in and looks like he's unrolled his own private pitch, which is always a Taunton shirtfront.

If they want him to keep for the time being - which is likely given Buttler has not played first class and they don't seem to have a clear third choice - then okay.  But you don't have your best player (and right now he is arguably better than Root even) at seven.

Interesting conversation with a guy at work today who is an acquaintance of YJB. Apparently he thought his England career was over before last summer. He felt poorly treated and didn't think he was ever going to be given a fair chance

Tbf to Bairstow, he's on borrowed time as a keeper because of King buttler who England and some fans seem to have nailed on for test cricket

To be fair I bet there was a lot of people who thought that as he is right, he never really got a fair crack but now his current form for England and Yorkshire is standing him in good stead for the foreseeable future.

I'd leave JB where he is. Surely we can find a decent middle order batsman somewhere?

With an eye to India and his last knock, Samit anybody?

I'm not sure why we need to "find a decent middle order batsman somewhere?" poor Vince has only had one innings batting at 5 and already people want him ditched and Bairstow up to bat at 5? Give the lad a fair crack of the whip at least! Or have I totally misunderstood the conversation? Wouldn't be the first time :D

I think the eventual senario would be drop Compton, move Vince to 3, move Bairstow to 5 and slot Buttler in at 7.
