Grunting Bowler
« on: May 28, 2016, 09:24:48 PM »

Hi All,
Played a game today and one of the oppo bowlers grunted/screamed as they bowled (a bit like Maria Sharapova!!). I was wondering if there were any rules against it? was really off putting , and no im not bitter because i didnt get out to him...!!

Had one last year, never had a bowler as angry bowl at me!! Responded by putting him back over his head a few times, he quietened down after that!!

Must be something in the air round Cheltenham, we used to tour there and we played at the civil service ground and Cheltenham police. One of the batsmen used to shout aaaaarggghhhh when he hit a six

Very unusual and very irritating. One tour this bloke hit quite a few sixes against us and we could not shut him up

Opening bowler or first change ? I think the guy who bowls first change can make sharapova noises from what I hear.

I'm an offie and I have a ball which I grunt for, but it's the opposite ball to what it should be!

No rule against it but the Batsman as the right to step away from the crease if he feels he is being distracted by any noise from the opposition the umpire then instructs the bowler to recommence his run up.
