I have had and used many a RNS bats, they were always good as they were the choice of people who couldnt afford expensive bats back in the day. Over the last 5-6 years i have felt the quality of batmaking has deteriorated, you can get good willow but if you can't shape it right or press it right its useless. We used to go to the factory and pick bats as kids and it was always lovely but what ruined the experience for me a few years ago was my dad went and picked a bat, they took it inside to knock it and put it in a bat cover. When he got back in the car and just decided to take the bat out to send me some pics it was a completely different and much inferior bat...he had to go back ask them to give him the bat he had actually picked...all about making money and pulling wool over peoples eyes...

above it just my opinion of them and experience, i wouldn't buy one again.

maybe it just needs time to open up...cant imagine a bat with that kind of looks perform poorly..

Bats are like women, good looks don't guarantee performance.
Sometimes the lookers don't go very well, while the munters will blow your mind!

I think it's got more to do with who's holding the woman ( or the bat ) as to how they perform.

You have to oil your woman like you oil a motor, lubrication always helps!

Go with BDM, they're far superior ping wise compared to TON or RNS
I completely agree. BDM bats are far better.

RNS - I believe they actually press the willow for only one in a hundred bats :D.

Honestly RNS is a complete dead on arrival product. Almost every model i have seen from RNS is posted in the range of 175 to 275 USD with claims of pro quality willow. People who are short on budget do buy these bats and they claim it performs well. I agree - it performs well for the price they paid, but it doesn't perform upto the level expected from a grade 1 or grade 2 bat.

Two main problems of RNS ...

1. Handle - It's uber thin and it breaks easily.
2. Soft press - Blade is too soft. Even a mild tap with a ball results in deep impression on the face. Knocking really doesn't improve it.

Somehow adding a second grip on RNS bat throws the balance completely off. They seem to have a very delicate balance. Little bit of weight addition here and there results in a dead dud.

BDM & TON/SS - Both these brands make very good top of the line, but their mid tier offerings leave a lot to be desired. Due to mass production of mid/low tier bats from these brands their press is inconsistent. If you are buying from one of the sponsors you are likely to get a top performer from TON/BDM. BDM aerodynamic & SS Limited edition are extremely popular due to their price point, but these tend to have a very uneven behavior from one bat to another. Just because one performed well, you can't be assured that the next one will perform well.

If you are buying TON/SS or BDM from online retails (non-forum sponsors) - my suggestion would be to stick with top of the line models - TON Reserve, TON player edition, SS Gladiator, SS Maximus & BDM Dynamic Extreme.

I had 2 RNS Millennium bats, both lasted less than a season. Very dry bats, oiled & knocked it etc. One cracked from the shoulder and other broke into 2 pcs. So no more RNS for me.
I have had good experience with BDM, GM, Gray Nicolls & BAS.I think BDM always had a full profile with good thick edges always with in the guidelines(30mm to 40mm). I have place an order with them on FB for a new bat hopefully it's here soon.

Lots of posts on FB posts from the RNS seller claiming bats with VK profile when theya re obviously not, e.g. ones with spine down to the toe.
