Before the system they have now using 808 909 original etc, was 'professional' a grade? Was this the top or was there a 'professional le'

Also if this did exist, what year did it change?

Going back to the 80s, I think 5 star was the top grade. There was a point where this was standard across all the brands.

The 808/ 909 system has been used since the early 2000s, at least. I'm surprised it's lasted as long as it has.

I think it's a great system, even if you don't know it inside out like I'm sure most here do you can get an idea of the relevant quality of the bat. Original and Original LE as top of line names are very classy as well. Kookaburra have a similar system, NB have come in with similar. Love a clear and concise naming system!

They had a professional range in the nineties.  It used to be a black band with the name of the range then underneath either 'select' which was blue, 'professional' which was gold or 'original' which was red.

I don't remember the professional grade, but the yellow one was Superstar, the purple one was Plus and the red one Original. There were also a number of stars on the labels to do with qualify as well.
