Hi everyone,
As you may know I have recently gone on a bit of a batting spree, which I solely blame on this forum and the people in charge. I have already purchased two bats from Blank Bats but luckily for me I was given the choice for a graduation present. My Mrs had seen the amount of bats I now possess so buying another one was not a choice, or was it?
I had spent more time than I care to mention on the forum and I just loved the fact that B3 offered a wide range of shapes and actually allowed you to choose the cleft. I had never done this before and with B3 only being a 40 minute drive I had to come up with some way of purchasing a bat. I then sent a very desperate email to David, asking him to send me a random email saying I had won a visit to the B3 factory for a free custom bat! Suffice to say it worked and within a week I was in the factory with my Mrs choosing my bat. I feel terrible for lying but the bat seems to help with the pain
The showroom and factory were amazing. I've never met people so interested and passionate about what they do. I could have honestly spoke for hours with the guys but I had to remember that my Mrs was with me. After a tour of the factory I went into the showroom and looked through the shapes on offer. There were plenty of shapes to choose from including the Root, Shan Masood, Gaz Cross, along with quite a few other. However my hands kept going back to one particular shape. It turned out to be the TKC. The shape had the spine running through the toe and quite a big middle. It picked up excellent and felt so perfectly balanced. I knew straight away this bat would be something special. Once the design was chosen, I then choose the cleft. I was given the choice of roughly 8 two stripe clefts and eventually narrowed it down to 2. I went with the cleft that had more "character" as you will see in the pictures. I also took advantage of the free gloves offer which was an added bonus for me and made it more worth the purchase.
The bat arrived today, 11 days after the visit and happy to say it came with no marks or dents. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and thing cardboard wrapping and I am very happy with the delivery.
The bat is perfect. At first looks it has 6 fairly straight grains that run through the toe along with one or two blemishes. There is a strip of heartwood on the right hand inside edge but it's negligible. The pick up is under 2.11 even though the bat weighs 2.12.2 (weighed at work so no picture as of yet but it's coming). The bat came with a double binding on the handle and scuff sheet on the face. The binding does feel good and means I won't be needing a second grip which is good news and the scuff sheet is fine for what it is. The sitckers are great and perfect for the passionate supporter. I can't wait to walk out with this bat. The bat is soft pressed and pings like a monster. I was so suprised at the size of the sweet spot (about 11 mm from the toe all the way to roughly 5 mm under the bespoke sticker). I don't have anything bad to say about the bat and I think it just shows the quality B3 are producing.
Just to add the gloves are very strong and very comfortable. Big fan of the amount of ventilation and the overall look. Definitely goes well with my purchase
