New BAS Bat
« on: June 16, 2016, 05:44:31 PM »

A long time lurker and have now got the forum bug of buying 5 bats in the last 6 months. Recently acquired a BAS bat as a gift that supposedly directly came out of the kit bag of Hashim Amla. Off course there is no way for me to validate this info and there is no pro sharpie anywhere on the bat   :o Obviously I don't care whether it is his bat or not since I got it as a gift from a dear friend. I wanted to share it with you guys.

It is 2lb 11oz, and a decent bit of concaving, 38mm edges and high spine of 66mm. The ping and balance is outstanding. Still knocking it in, but it feels like this bat has potential to kick start my dreadful season so far. I have been a SS user for quite sometime, got a custom bat directly from Jatin Sareen (again as a gift from the same friend) last year and it was a bomb. It is currently on a ventilator and won't last long. Will try and post pics. This is my first BAS bat and I am very impressed so far. The pressing, face and the edges all seem top notch.

Dem grains! Very pronounced. Wish they were gun-barrel straight.

I've also learnt what BAS stands for tonight 😳

Aren't gunbarrels rifled? To make the bullet spin? If so, these grains are doing their best. I too really like the old pronounced grains, amlas or not, I hope you the best of luck with this lovely piece of willow.

Big and stripy?

If he was big and stripy it wouldn't be much of a challenge would it...  :D

It was a good clue though for a bit of Friday fun. Certainly didn't think it would stand for that though. The more you know I guess!
