Getting Bowlers to bowl at the stumps
« on: June 26, 2016, 12:01:54 PM »

Any drills for hitting the stumps? We have bowlers who firstly have an inability to not bowl wides, despite being decent bowlers, and secondly don't seen to be able to consistently bowl at the stumps. On our deck where the bounce can be a little variable it really helps to bowl straight!

What about spinners bowling no balls? Any tips for that forum?

Getting my run up right helps! At least I know how to bowl straight.

Since I could barely bowl properly thanks to my tricep injury I have an excuse. Our so called fast bowlers (hammer excluded) don't!

Think I see where this is going  :D

Other than asking nicely... What else can you do?

Target practice using cones. Aiming at one stump. Turning up to nets lol

I think it's generally a lack of concentration and a less than grooved action. No substitute for practice!

Sorry, think I've misunderstood. I thought your guys had the ability to bowl at the stumps, they just didn't want to, or thought they could get wickets bowling otherwise.

If they can't actually bowl in a straight line, like you've said, practice practice practice. When are nets? Are they Friday evening? I tend to find that attendance and enthusiasm wains towards the end of the week. We had preseason nets on Wednesday night, very good turnout. Outdoor nets are Wednesday and Friday, Wednesday night is well attended, Friday night is a ghost-town, I wonder why...
