Middx v Yorks
« on: July 06, 2016, 03:14:06 PM »

I know there's quite a few Yorkies on here, has anyone seen how this game is developing?  Yorks still 30 behind with 4 wkts left, 30 overs left in the day.

It could be an interesting last session, do Yorks have no worries with a strong tail, or are they batting to save the game?

Are Middx the real deal, or do they flatter to deceive?

Is anyone there - is it exciting?

I blame the captain.

First loss in 2+ years, not bad.  Getting their own back from a couple of seasons ago.

The 3 quick wickets have hurt us big time. Unfortunately it seems everyone is rather out of form at the moment, especially Gale. And having to Hodd isn't helping - doesn't seem to know how to score runs these days in the County Championship.

I think this has quickly gone from nailed on draw, to Middlesex snatching victory!

Just looked at the averages on the BBC Website and these are even worse to see!

Top 6 in the tables average over 40 - good to see. Bad News is they are: Bairstow, Root, Bresnan, Brooks, Plunkett, Rashid... 4 in the England squad, 1 there by dirty red stinkers.

Only Lees is in the team who averages over 35... Balance just scraping over 30...

GET IN!  great game has made a tedious afternoon at work so much better.

It's very similar to the match at lords last season, seeming a nailed on draw to innings win.

At least we know that Finn won't be in contention for the test team any time soon.

Played Eski the week before his first ton. Got him out for 70 odd - so think we've escaped lightly!

A lot of dissatisfaction amongst Yorkshire members with this one - it was a surprise that we were required to leave five guys with Team England for a bit of hit and giggle, but especially that Finn, who was in the squad, was released back to play for Middlesex whereas Willey, who had been told last week that he wouldn't play, was kept on as a reserve.

The threepeat is going to be touch as it is - we've been pretty unlucky with the weather and injuries, and are basically fielding a second XI against a bunch of hired mercenaries! :)

Three defeats vs Middlesex for Yorkshire in three years now. Two of them down to one day of brilliance really. Couple of years back Rogers got 241* of 421 chase to win by seven wickets, and now a brilliant team effort with the ball.
As a Middlesex member I am obviously going to be biased, but this team is not the finished article. The established players are very good, but Murtagh is getting on a bit, whilst the batting still is a bit hit and miss. TRJ is a serious player, but the bowler that the seam attack will be built around is Tom Helm when he is fit. Simpson is ever improving with the bat, which helps balance the side well.
