Visit to Matts workshop
« on: July 06, 2016, 08:05:13 PM »

I was passing @hell4leather cricket  workshop on a family trip to Disneyland so thought it would be rude not to call in and say hello! Matt gave me, the wife and the two kids the grand tour which my daughter loved! Made us a cracking cup of tea and made plenty of time for a chat! My first trip to a workshop couldn't have been better. Big thanks to Matt for having us, very much appreciated!!

Now I couldn't leave without getting Matt to make me something up, that would be ludicrous!! So we had a look through what he had handled and Matt picked a big lump out of the box which had a nice thick handle. Cam will be pleased to know an inch of heartwood on the inside edge, which is going to be made into a Hattori Pro. Matt showed me a handled cleft that @petehosk is getting made, I was very jealous!! We need some pics once it's finished Pete!!

This is going to upset people but I didn't get any photos!! My wife took one of some enormous clefts that Matt had been cutting which is below. If there is a cleft in there that looks like Petes feel free to keep it for me Matt!!

Got a couple of t shirts as well and they are very nice indeed

I am in the process of writing about our visit as well - but will more pictures including quite a number of those clefts that are drying out!
And not forgetting one of two bits that are being made up, including the cleft Matt showed you  ;)

Glad you liked the cleft JB and sounds like you enjoyed it!

We were dropping hints all the way through France but she didn't have a clue until we got there!! I thought she was going to explode with excitement! It's definitely made up for her having to have an operation of the last holiday

@simonmay5 didn't have loads of time to go through all the clefts but it's a nice one that we picked out, I'll do a review when it arrives

Little update on this! I got home last night to a nice bat sized parcel! I had to open it quickly and take a couple of quick pictures as we were having to leave straight away to visit friends in Scotland!

What can I say but wow! Even though I picked the handled cleft I had no idea that it would turn out as big. The edges are 40mm+ from 3 inches up from the toe to the middle of the h4lruns sticker! I didn't have time to weigh it but it's similar to my others around 2.14-3lb. Pick up is decent considering the bulk is at the bottom! Here are some pictures
