Sunday cricket
« on: July 18, 2016, 06:02:11 PM »

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone knows where I could play some Sunday cricket in Lancashire.

I currently play league cricket on a Saturday, but now we are out of all the cup comps I am bored as hell every sunday wishing I was playing cricket. Standard wise I am capable and want to play at the highest level possible, but I am also up for some village friendly cricket- I just want to get out of the house!!!

I skipper a cricket club in Leeds if you fancy a trip over the Pennines. We have about 6 fixtures left this season but next summer there will be a full season of Sunday fixtures.

I'm based in Preston, but I'm willing to travel anywhere on the train that will cost me less than £15.

If I can bag myself some cheap train tickets I'd be well up for it!

I'm Preston too. Who do you play for on Saturdays? The palace shield has a sunday league, though not sure of the eligibility rules for it if you're already playing Saturday cricket elsewhere. Alternatively, ever thought about giving baseball a go? That's played on a Sunday. I've played for Bolton in previous years.

I used to play for Penwortham and BAC/EE preston, moved to play in the Liverpool Comp a couple of years ago so I'm ineligible for ps sunday cricket. I'm struggling to find anywhere close enough, I might have to give baseball a shot.

And who do you play for btw?

I don't really play for anyone at the minute, kind of semi retired. Played 8 seasons for Preston in the Northern League and then 3 years for F&B. Think I've played against you actually, leg spinner?

Feel very disconnected from Preston CC now. A ton of us left at the same time around 6 years ago as it was becoming an unpleasant club to be involved in. What's gone on?

Their pitch is poor, their nets are poor, there is no social side whatsoever there, I doubt they even have one player that enjoys a beer after the game.
