Don't think Kolpak players are going to be an issue in a couple of years time anyway. However, you have a point.

They were discussing Ben Duckett on Tuffers & Vaughan last night, saying that as they had no overseas last year, forced some of the younger lads to step up.

TBH if teams are struggling with financing, the ECB should consider reducing the number of counties. Therefore get rid of the vast array of kolpak players and veterans whom are blocking spots for younger players.

If the veterans are still playing at a good enough standard there's no need for them to just move aside, they can offer a lot of experience to a dressing room and the set up in general which youngsters will benefit from

One or two veterans yes. Not half a teams worth. That hinders the progress of youngsters.

Colly signed an extension, how does that work? Surely they would want to keep their younger talent (though I admire what colly has done for Durham and England!).

Arcticle apparently in the times tomorrow that they reckon Mark Wood will also be away next year if he loses his central contract and they think Jennings and Borthwick could be heading the same way but all is not lost they have offered Graham Clark a contract and 'hope he accepts' :/

Do Glamorgan really get public money to host cricket ?? If so that's a criminal misuse of public funds

Glamorgan had a 4.4 million loan to develop swalec for Ashes cricket,  It did reach all the required standards and hosted Ashes matches.

two thirds of the 4.4 million quid loan was written off by Cardiff Council a couple of years later.

You can look at that whichever angle you want but if I buy your house for 10 million but I can only afford 5 million, I borrow 5 million from the bank and 2 years later tell the bank I can't pay the 5 million they lent me and they turn round and say ok bud, we've taken a haircut on your loan and written it off.

The whole issue of County cricket being in debt is another subject,  the amount of clubs in financial difficulty is growing, the ECB handling out Test matches to the highest bidder is the root cause of it.

Why is it? Taking into account the money hosting games will bring to the area & economy, just like anything else they plough money into. Benefits outweigh the cost or they wouldn't do it

I understand that Borthwick has credible offers from Surrey, Lancashire and HAmpshire and is, rumour has it, waiting till the end of the season to see who goes down.

Jennings has nothing on the table, but Middlesex have asked for permission to speak to him.

Wood will stay if he gets a central contract, but England are not certain to offer him one.  If not...

Will Weighell is interesting Yorkshire (he being one of "us") as is Coughlin.

But this involves politicians and egos. The Welsh politicians like nothing more than squandering tax payers'  money on vanity projects.
