This is a good series for New Zealand to build confidence under a new captain before they pop over the border to face South Africa.

Also Graeme Cremer Zimbabwe captain? What the hell? Thought he quit cricket to become a pro golfer

Zimbabwe struggled and got rolled for 164. Would've been seriously worse but for Tiripano 49° and Masvaure 42 adding 85 for the ninth wicket, when Zimbabwe where 72/8. Neil Wagner bagged a career best 6/41. Fast and hostile, my kind of cricketer

New Zealand completed a straightforward innings victory over Zimbabwe. The Kiwis racked up 576/6 declared. Tom Latham 105, Kane Williamson 91, Ross Taylor 173* and BJ Watling 107 filled their boots against a pretty modest attack. Second time around Zimbabwe's top order again offered very little slumping to 17/4. Craig Ervine 50(maiden Test half century), Sikandar Raza 37, Graeme Creamer 33 and Sean Williams 119(maiden Test century) battled hard to give some respectability to their second innings. Creamer faced 130 ball and just under 6hrs for his 33. Sean Williams' century was the fastest ever by a Zimbabwean in Test cricket. Alas it wasn't enough to make the Kiwis bat again. Trent Boult took 4/52 as the Kiwis won by an innings and 117.

New Zealand batting first in the second Test and it's more of the same of the Kiwis batsmen. Guptill 87 and Latham 136 the only two wickets to fall as the Kiwis closes on 329/2. Williamson is 95* and if he reaches his century will complete Test centuries against all opposition. Really failing to see what either side is gaining from these matches

NZ getting some batting practice in! Rack up 650 and leave yourself 3 days to bowl them out twice.

Kane Williamson completed the historic feat of scoring centuries against all opposition at the tender age of 25 years and 365 days(not a misprint it's a leap year, will make a stunning fact in years to come). Williamson achieved the feat some 4 years faster than previous record holder Kumar Sangakkara. Some player is Kane, as a reference Tendulkar scored 16 Test hundreds before his 26th birthday, Kane has 14. He's on par with the little man from Mumbai.

Ross Taylor edged ahead of Williamson in the century stakes with his 15th. He also passed a very significant milestone as he now has more Test runs than his old mentor the late Martin Crowe.

Both Williamson and Taylor are on the march to break Crowe's record of Test centuries for a New Zealander(17). In Williamson's case if he scores a century on the upcoming tour of South Africa, he will have scored he hundreds everywhere(bar Pakistan but he's unlikely to get to play there anytime soon).

BJ Watling's reputation continues to grow. For my money the best wicketkeeper batsman around. Ever reliable but rarely gets the headlines.

As for Zimbabwe it was pleasing to see their batsmen learning from the errors from the first Test and battling hard.

So New Zealand completed a 2 zero whitewash of Zimbabwe, but the Zimbabweans competed far better in the second Test. Craig Ervine batted beautiful to register his maiden Test century in Zimbabwe's first innings. Peter Moor made 71 on Test debut. Although Zimbabwe didn't avoid the follow on, they batted for 134 overs and as such Williamson elected to give his bowlers some rest and bat again. Zimbabwe managed a respectable 362. In the Kiwis second innings both Williamson and Taylor hit unbeaten fifties. Taylor wasn't dismissed in the series 173*, 124* and 67*. Zimbabwe started decently but lost wickets in bunches. They where also unfortunate to receive some woefully poor umpiring decisions(they can't afford DRS). The Kiwis won by 254 runs after Zimbabwe fell away to 132 all out. Sodhi took match figures of 7/79 but wasn't particularly decent with the ball. Zimbabwe have a few promising players but I think they benefit from a two tier Test system.
