what is it with duffel bags?
« on: July 28, 2016, 07:29:52 PM »

Seen alot of post over the past 12mths about duffel bags.
Is this just a UK trend? I have never seen one being used in AUS, and to me they just look far too small to fit all of the gear.

What's up, don't the boys in the north have cars?
Will the duffel trend catch on down south?

I think they're brilliant. I have a Ton elite, mongoose, kookaburra pro and 2x slazenger v series. The slazenger ones are my personal favourite.
If you can't fit all your gear into one the size of a ton elite you are carrying too much stuff. If you can fit everything into a slazenger v series you are carrying the right amount. Also, £6.50 from sports direct currently the v series is a bargain. It's also easier to carry a duffle than pull a wheelie in my opinion.

As someone who lives in London, doesn't have a car and relies heavily on public transport, I find they're excellent for getting your gear around compared to using a wheelie bag up escalators/stairs etc

Bought a Supernova duffle and with any luck shouldn't ever have to buy another bag again, it's huge.

I got sick of having bats trodden on in the changing rooms
With the duffles the bags stood up and takes up half the room in the changing room

Firstly and most Inportantly. They save so much room in a small changing room it's unbelievable.
Our home dressing room has gone from "barely move without destroying a bat" to "it's a decent size in here, all 11 of us can change at once"

Secondly, I can fit more kit in my duffle than I ever could in many a big double decker wheelie. It's ridiculous!! (I did a stupid video once to show this)

I Also drive an estate car, it means when I am full with 5 people, I have five duffles in the boot and can still see out the back.

All good imo

I have an Adidas England issue wheelie, and bought the GM duffle in the SD sale, I fit everything into the duffle, easier than I do into the wheelie, and I don't get moaned at in the changing room for having a weapon of a bag haha

Reckon you lot down south with all yall ute's and stuff dont think space is an issue.

I got sick of wheeling over grass gravel etc. Plus i can take my duffle on my bike. And i had soo many wheeling fall apart over 1-2 seasons.. Hope this doesnt happen with my nova.

The sizes of both types of bag have changed loads over the last couple of years. Duffle bags are now bigger than some of the older (and current) wheelies.

Now the days of club kit bags are becoming a thing of the past and wheelies are becoming so big you can only get about 2 in most changing rooms it seems the duffle is the way forward for most (Although I do use stand up wheelie).

I just prefer carrying my bag on my back to wheeling it tbh, plus decent wheelies are so much money these days. Plus it standing up in the changing room is a winner. As for space, if anything I'd prefer my duffle to be a bit smaller - it's huge! Teammates have even asked why I have such a big bag.

One day, someone will make a decent size duffle that's separated into a few different main compartments instead of one big black hole for kit, and it'll be the perfect bag for me.

I just about fit all my stuff in but as a lot of people have already said, changing rooms are usually very small in England. I imagine Aussie facilities are generally a lot better if you share an oval with Aussie rules etc. Is that the case?
