So here's my first attempt at making a bat, I feel it's not gone badly.

Nice job fella!  :) It looks great, really well done. Big middle, it should go like a rocket.

The tortoise though. He looks like he's seen it all before.

Thanks, Obadiah is inscrutable sadly he's significantly out of my skill range all made with chainsaws from a chunk of fallen oak.

yep, great effort. like the look of that.

I would say your staff look a tad on the slow slide and look like they might need a bit of help to come out of their shell.

Great work for a first attempt.

I must say, it's quite refreshing that there are more and more of these posts with budding podshavers having a go.

Keep it up

I haven't actually weighed yet, will update with the details.

I only had a plane and draw knife to work with so figured something similar to the Gilchrist/Scat/old M&H shapes were most achievable. Planning on adding a couple of spoke shaves to the toolbox for my next go.

I've got some tools which may interest you. Drop me a pm if you want to discuss to save blocking your topic up.

Looks a decent effort btw

It's 2-13 at the moment, edges are 28mmand the spine is 60/62mm and it's only 106 wide because I got a little carried away smoothing the edges  :D
