Ah, I got your attention with that eh? And you know what, it's actually true. Recognise this fella?

OK OK, full disclosure. First up, he's my brother, which did make the marketing and sales process somewhat smoother than it might otherwise have been Secondly, he's the captain of Mexico, where the competition for places is not as fierce as in the traditional cricket nations. But hey, for a first sale I'll take it gladly. Best of all, he paid in pounds, not pesos. Here's what he got for his money:

Much better piece of willow this time, Grade 2 due to some imperfections on the back, but beautiful on the face.

The bat weighed in at 2lb 11oz. Fairly traditional profile, nice long middle. I'm happy with it, best one I've made so far by some distance.

And finally, here's the boy himself, with his team of Aztecs at the South American Championships in Chile, October 2015:

Many companies would have sold that for grade 1 looking at the face. Profile looks good with a large sweetspot

Well done JK  the Bat looks a beauty have to say though grade 2 ? Surely not I've seen plenty grade ones ( particularly this season )  look a lot worse than that bat.

Seems to me the whole grading thing is a bit of a game really! If one selects willow from a supplier they seem to be tougher on grading, G1 to G2 for example. In the shops, pretty much anything goes, and they call bats G1 when you or I would likely disagree. I figure I'll sell each bat at the same grade as I bought the cleft. That seems fair.

How did it go @JK Lewis

So far so good, or so I'm told! The season in Mexico is just about to get under way,  so the bat has been used in nets, but not in a game so far. More details from my dear brother on my FB page (link below). Thanks for asking, I'll keep you posted.
