I have taken the punt and ordered what will be my first Laver. Hopefully I don't get a dud!

Anyone know how the pickup compares to an ST profile?

I had an ST but found it too nose heavy.

Id say the one in the photo above would be bottom heavy. My first Laver was the Toby profile (90s M&H) and it was amazing.

^ A paying customer should be able to get what he/she wants since they are ones using the product and have _some_ idea of how/why they use it.

Point of having a custom made bat is to get what you pay for and want.

Its not a custom its a specific profile and grade and says handles and blade length are adjustable not bow. A customer paying full price can ask away.

A bloke on facebook asked them this morning for the TR special in a different profile and a discoumt for buying three. Everyone wants somesthing extra free for just turning up.

personally I've never heard of a Laver being a dud, mine goes like a machine. Needs 1 or 2 Ozs taking off it as I bat for a bit longer these days

well past my peak

well i took the bait, seems good value to me. fingers crossed the spine in the middle and my 2.8 doesn't end up a 2.10, which I been told it's just internet rumors. I'll find out soon enough.

Anthony said they have solved the weight gain issue about a year and a half ago through a different drying and finishing process..

What happened to it?

I was making a point in general about custom bats. This situation is different as you stated.

For this price and deal, Laver are willing to make a bat in SH length with an inch shorter blade and a longer handle in TR profile with a forward set handle for bow. For the price, I think it is a great deal. I am still contemplating the bat, I have too many to use in the first place.  :D

Does this Toby just shape the bats or press them as well?

I'm just wondering why you would want one from him when you can get one from One of the best pod shavers on the planet?

^ Because it is still a Laver & Wood bat conforming to their standards albeit made by an "apprentice". You should reach out to them via facebook and they will promptly answer your questions.

Laver has another ex-apprentice making some cracking bat out there under his own label now: Marty Graham of MG2 Cricket!
