Albion's interesting new lid
« on: August 21, 2016, 07:24:29 PM »

WTF
http://www.morrant.com/special_offers/albion_nxt_cricket_helmet/116600_p.html
By the looks of it it's not got an adjustable grille, but nowhere does it say it confirms to new regs
Either way it looks like a 3 year old designed it!

It's been around for ages, I think they brought it out after the Daniel Flynn incident, but it flopped.

A teammate had one and it was the heaviest helmet I have ever seen.

Yes, released 2007/8 when I first looked at our design. Sanga wore one prior to adopting ours, last I heard these were being sold off at below cost price as they weren't recieived well in the market at the time.

I hear Albion has changed hands? It'd be nice to see them back seriously competing in the market again.

It's funny, these helmets look like they wouldn't stand up to a tennis ball, yet ABDV still wears them so they can't be half bad.

Never seen anyone wear one at club level though. No idea how they survive!

Ah.

I noticed he was wearing a Shrey in the feature he did with Nasser a little while back. I though he was just wearing something for that feature that he found lying around.

I don't know any other professionals that wear Albion now. Good luck to them!

It may well be just for the CPL (if for example his franchise have a requirement to wear compliant helmets)

Will be interesting to see what he wears for SA, if he ever plays for them again.
