Absolutely brilliant for Misbah and the Pakistan team. So pleased for them.
The Eng tour to India will be huge now. The winner may take the top ranking.

Superb result for a superb man. I think its fair to say that Pak is becoming everyone's second team (at least in Tests). If they manage to hold their own in Aus later this year - they will undoubtedly be the best (since everyone is getting thrashed away from home).

The away from home thrashing a is more pronounced in the countries that have increasingly exaggerated the conditions for the touring sides. A problem that seems to be becoming more and more pronounced as boards are desperate for their teams to beat better sides by adjusting the conditions. Unfortunately it is a problem which only seems to be growing to the detriment of our game. Let's hope this is only a passing phase, but I doubt it.
Speaking of everyone's second team does that make Pakistan the new New Zealand, of whom it should be remembered drew in both England and UAE

That strategy can backfire spectacularly (for example, when Monty and Swann ran riot in India). This trend will eventually force the best teams to be versatile, and well rounded - and I think Pak and NZ (possibly Eng) are getting there before others.

Surely Pakistan would be doing even better if they played home tests at home ? Yet a part of me thinks that that adversity has made them somewhat more versatile in away conditions . Either way , they are a good team to watch . The england v pakistan series was the most enjoyable neutral test series I've watched in ages . I look forward to having them here in oz this summer .

I often think that Pakistan's home (UAE) is as neutral to opposition as it is to Pakistan..

Yeah , that's an interesting point .
Touring sides don't have to deal with massive home crowds , home supporting media  , culture etc , and conversely , Pakistan don't have the benefit of those things either . But , Pakistan play half their games there whereas everyone else rarely plays there . I know as an Aussie fan , touring the u.a.e doesn't feel very neutral though !

No point saying UAE is a neutral venue, no way will any test side tour pakistan in the future. It is their home ground now
