My new Laver Special Reserve
« on: August 26, 2016, 07:44:13 PM »

In a drunk moment of madness I decided to take the plunge and get my first custom made bat.

Always wanted to try a L&W so sent Anthony a message about a low density cleft and decided to go for this

Spec as follows

Weight - 2.9.4 (asked for 2.8.5)

Edge - 39mm

Spine - 64mm

Shoulder - 16mm

Toe - 21mm

Concaving - 2/3mm

Decided to go for a 1/2" shorter blade 1/2" longer handle set up.

Delivery took 3 weeks from placing my order. Very happy with the turn around.

Knocked in for ten minutes and pretty impressed with it if I'm honest, have read pressing can be hard and take a while to open up but think this will be good to go in a couple of hours.

Shame I have to wait a couple of weeks before I use it - cracked and dislocated finger!

Nice shape.

Does the extra ounce make a difference or does it pick up pretty well?

It picks up pretty well - if it gains anymore then it will be starting to bother me...

It's a custom profile based on a pros shape - pretty happy with it, wanted a thicker shoulder if I'm honest

Love a shorter blade, big fan of that thicker shoulder also.

looks lovely, a shame about the extra ounce.
I have currently got a laver in the pipeline and have been very clear of what weight I expect.
Is it really that hard to weigh the bat during the stages of production?

I got this off James after initial shaping

It has very minimal concaving and picks up really well. This set up picks up well right up to around 2.12. We are shooting for 2.8 in your bat though.

Nice solid edges and decent spine height.

So was a little disappointed with the extra weight

It does look like a mid-mega. very nice profile. Lavers take a bit of time to open up but they always come good in the end.

Lovely bats
Shame about an ounce weight gain to your requested spec, but I'm sure most of us wouldn't notice an ounce either way
