Aussie VIP club
« on: August 29, 2016, 07:28:31 AM »

Got an email recently inviting me to join the B3 Aussie VIP club, being a bit of a B3 fan signed on in a flash.   the hook was the advertising of custom made deliver to aus for $320,
this was music to my ears, finally it appears that one of the English bat makers are going to make a real effort to sell their wears in oz.
I have been saying for a while now I believe there is a really big potential for this here, as our market is really dominated by the big boys selling hugely marked up bats.
I wish B3 well and I hope that a few more English bat-makers follow their lead,

does anyone have further info about how B3 are planing to make this a success, with the dollar exchange and freight must make it tight.
looking forward to adding a few more B3s to my quiver

Yep, i joined up as well and reckon that with the current value of the pound, B3 are even better value! I bought a crown a few weeks ago and it ended up under $900au delivered and compared to what $1200 will be buying us this season is in almost bargain territory...  :D

GST will be added to online purchasers from next year adding to the cost. Depending on how flexible the brands are with warranty and repair work, the exchange rate, stocking UK brands isn't as simple as people think.

We will start the VIP aussie club with access to the bats and softs (2014) that we have left over in Aus - these will be at really good prices to move the stock - pre season bargains galore!!!

How does this change from UK brands to any other brand? Surely 95% of bats sold in the big stores come from UK/India/Pakistan? Therefore have similar issues - warranty/repair/exchange and also be effected by GST also??

Previously purchases under $1000 from overseas retailers were GST exempt. So if for example I purchased something from Vitas cricket VAT was removed and freight added which went close to canceling each other out, from next year another 10% will be added to final price. In terms of repairs some brands insist on doing their own repairs which can add a lot of time and cost to getting things done.  Big brands here have local repairers in place.

I am not having a go, so please don't take it that way, just keen to understand the market place over there.

So GST won't have a minimum value from next year?

I am assuming that the bigger brands don't have staff over there, just use a local guy that would also repair other brands?

It's fine I understand, I wasn't offended in any way. GN and Kooka have repair facilities but we do a lot of the work, same goes for most brands we stock. The change in GST only affects online purchases from overseas that were previously exempt, it's to protect retailers here from people buying same items from overseas seller 10% cheaper.
