BAT copy required - who ?
« on: September 04, 2016, 12:34:15 PM »

Have pretty much always used M&H Harlequin 2lb 9 / 10

but MH now have most of their bats made in India.

So who would you have make the copy (2 required) and why ?

Looks not important, performance every thing

Also need current Harlequin repaired

I can accommodate the repair and copies. Copies would also come knocked in within the price

Just because it's made in India doesn't make it an inferior product, plenty of high quality bats from Indian workshops

You are very correct that you can get some stunning bats made in India.
I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect that @oldfudger has the same principals as a number of people on here about M&H?
The fact that they claim to hand make their own bats in their UK workshop and still charge their prices accordingly! Rather than getting them ready made from India and hiking the prices massively!
I certainly wouldn't entertain forking out 5-6 hundred notes for a bat I could get one hell of a lot cheaper from the people who make them!!

Agreed that some Indian made bats are spot on however it's nice to be able to chat to the bat makers directly and have a chat about what you want.

Completely agree with your point about taking issue with the principles of M&H and they way they advertise themselves, I too take issue with that, for me it borders on false advertising!

I just read the post as his issue being with the bat made in India as opposed to a bat made in the UK

Gents, just to inform you my personal experience 'old fudger' was just a waste of time.

I hope for everyone concerned this isn't another one. Good luck.

Unfortunately Jaffa has a problem as i wouldnt pay £80 for his Saf bat offered £70 as it would be a second bat to Harlequin,

Back on topic decided to go down route of having copy made. So who would you have to make such a bat ?

Nothing against Indian bats but the inflated cost at MH

Agreed, but there are some bat makers outside of India too who are not always ready to clarify or accept that something has been overlooked if something goes wrong (please note that I am not pointing my finger at any particular bat maker / manufacturer, it is just my experience); it depends on the ethical standards of the bat maker / manufacturer and not nationality.

Don't mistake me, I have very high respect for the bat makers and some of the other sponsors who I had the pleasure to deal with on this Forum

From personal experience of having a bat copied (used nearly all sponsors bats as well) but I have only ever asked one forum member to copy a bat for me and that was Ryan RK bats in the bat makers shed section and it was spot on

Glad you brought this up. You 'kind of' know at the beginning whether someone is really interested in buying yes or no but I thought I'd go along.

After about 20 or so mails'  back and forth asking things like 'where exactly to the cm is the sweet spot' and then not wanting to buy for the sake of a tenner then you know what type of person you're dealing with.

You could argue 'for the sake of a tenner why didn't you sell it'? I'm sure there would have been another excuse not to buy but I guess I'll never know. Maybe that says something about me also.

As for copying a bat; many good suggestions on here. Whereabouts are you based so you can see if there is anyone local to you?

Spoilsport! Just as we were revving up to another forum falling out, I was anticipating at least 3 pages culminating in some good personal insults   :)

I'll throw B3's hat into the ring for replication of a bat, as we all know copying is illegal.
