Great evening chaps! Suitably sore as imagined.

@Northern monkey the one bat I did pick up was lovely, and the attention to detail of the spine running through the toe was a delight. Also, picked up remarkably for a 2.13!
You didn't seem to struggle with it either!

I can just about make a cheese sandwich myself how some of the forum turn up having made their own bats I find very impressive

Top effort from northern, not far off what you could buy in the shops.

Pictures, pictures, pictures.

I struggled before putting pics up! Now I've no idea

Agreed - when are they for sale?!

I may do a run of the big uns, if I can get similar clefts
I love that shape, and the pick up is unreal for 2.13

Petes got first refusal on that one, and my mate Ram wants one, and I've promised Simon May one too
So I'll see how it goes with decent clefts

My missus has suggested doing a few bats for a charity we support, so I may do that once I've finished a few more

The bigger bats are easy to do, as there's not much to remove from a cleft in shaping them
I find the real skill in getting a bat down to 2.9 finished, and making a real world usable bat at that weight
It's very hard trying to remove an ounce without killing performance
I've gotta have confidence in it being able to hit a ball
So no duck bills, etc

Thanks for the feedback chaps

The bat I was using is 2.7!!!!
No way I can wield a 2.13 bat these days ha

You hit it hard enough with a light one @Northern monkey you don’t deserve the advantage of a big bat
It was a beautiful bit of wood and very well shaped I was impressed

I suppose I'm at an advantage in that I don't have to conform to specific shapes etc
And doing it purely as a hobby, it doesn't matter how long I spend on a cleft.
Appreciate the comments guys

I know it's not huge or anything but I love that shape
50mm max spine, but very convex shape, big spread of wood across the profile

And the 2.13 bat is a long blade
