You guys win the Norfolk league?

Nope we won the Suffolk league. Norfolk and Cambridge winners declined to participate in a play off.

Do you have someone overseeing all youth cricket on your General committee (i.e. a Youth Manager) ? We have a Youth Manager and a Cricket Chairman (moi) to oversee Youth and Senior cricket respectively and work collaboratively. Senior Cricket tends to be 1st XI focused, but Youth cricket can sit side by side.

We do have a Cricket Committee and a Cricket Chairman. I think we need to do more though with those players leaving the junior set up and starting to play 2XI and 3XI cricket (15-18 year olds). We are in good shape but having been around when we last achieved Premier league cricket I felt the club went backwards and has only just recovered. We don't coach our adults at all. I would like to see a coach come in and really focus on the 15-18 year olds as well as the senior players.

We came to the same conclusion and are hiring a coach for next season to improve senior cricket (incl the older youth players).

A coach will take time to see any benefit, don't expect to suddenly see mega stars immediately (although, depends on the talent base you are starting with snd their willingness to learn)

The club I play for has no junior section, no clubhouse (but that's another story) and there is talk of doing away with the seconds as we struggle to put out two teams consistently. The seconds skipper regularly calls in mates from a much larger club that haven't been selected or have a free week, this has caused much grumbling as the same folk do the batting and bowling.

That's the reality of a lot of 1/2 team clubs. Big clubs sound good in theory but really they don't improve standards at all, they just Hoover up kids and players and are more effective at turning players away from the game.

Having said that, I don't hold it against any club for doing it as its the only way to survive

Agreed, but we hugely under performed this year and need a coach to get us back on track. Also will help improve performances of our other sides...assuming they turn up for training.
