I've just recently got back into cricket after a couple of years off. Used to be county standard in my teens. After a few of weeks of bowling in the nets I felt my back aching slightly. Stupidly I chose to ignore it and it got worse, after looking it up online everything points towards it being spondylosis which is a small stress fracture in the lower vertebrae caused by bowling too much and with too much effort. The treatment said I need to rest for 6 weeks. I've been resting with no cricket at all for three weeks now and every now and again I can still feel it slightly if I bend the wrong way. Is there any way I can strengthen my back to prevent it happening again or is it just a case of easing into my bowling slowly and in short spells instead of bowling full on for an hour and a half twice a week? Any advice would be great. Thanks fellas.
