Batting in the nets
« on: October 07, 2016, 10:14:59 PM »

Hi all

Another video of me trying to bat in the nets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdLJJWyJHiU

As always all tips and feedback are appreciated. Any thoughts that will help me to improve (and hopefully score more runs)?

Definite improvement over old videos, good to see mate! You still need to get rid of that front foot plant though, it's killing your balance.

Main thing that jumped out at me was that you're on the move as you hit the ball a lot, quite often in the opposite direction to where you're trying to hit the ball. It's most obvious when you're aiming a shot over the covers and ending up almost in the net on the leg side. The nick off is a good example as well. Don't know if it's something you're working on already as you don't do it all the time - on all your best timed shots you were much stiller at contact. Definite area you could make quite a big improvement with a small change I think.

Agree with @edge , you are a very bottom hand player which is why your 'giving yourself room' some of your offside shots you finish in a position that you would expect to see a pull shot finish. Would suggest to try and play more under your nose when moving into an offside shot. But no one batsman plays with the same way.

Massive improvement off the front foot cam, nice to see you can play with a high left elbow.

We may need to chat through your short ball options next...

Big improvement from the first video in this thread, agree with Mark about you looking a lot more comfortable now. Did notice when watching the older video that one that turns to first slip about 2 minutes in @WalkingWicket37

Woody used the Slazenger in his second bat for a while, and absolutely creamed some, I was feeding the bowling machine in the other net and just kept seeing and hearing balls smashed to all parts

I'm just glad it was too heavy for Mark to have a hit with it!

Cam has been asking for it all week, to be fair he creamed 1 for 6, i hit im 3 other times the first he replied with "it would hurt if you were quicker!"  :D

Yes i used it for 10 minutes, its FLIIIIIIIES!!! 10 minutes was all i could manage though! Sweating buckets after that

That slaz bat was utterly ridiculous
I've never seen a ball hit like that
On a lot of grounds, every shot would go for six, from any part of that bat
