Cricket School in Wroclaw, Poland.
« on: October 15, 2016, 08:36:45 AM »

Good Morning All,

I hope you are all well.
I did post a short while back regarding Cricket In Wroclaw.

I am in the very first stages of creating something in Wroclaw, that I do believe could be very special indeed.
I am hopeful that, with the right people on board, we can slowly introduce Cricket as a Major Sport in Poland.

If you will indulge me, I will tell you about my Cricketing background...

I am English, born and bred; in fact, I was born in Hammersmith, and grew up in New Malden,Surrey. New Malden is leafy suburbia, not far from Wimbledon,Kingston-hupon-Thames, Womble(!)Don,
My Cricketing education began in Surrey. I started at Spencer CC as a young whippersnapper...then onto Cheam CC, Guildford CC, New Malden Wanderers. I havent played cricket in Surrey Since I was about 18. I went through the Surrey System, from U9 to U19, like many others.
I am now 32 years Old, and will turn 33 in Feb 2017. I think that's next year!

My dream growing up was always to play for England. In fact, even at my age, I have to admit that my ultimate dream is still there. It is hard to let it go. The only thing that gives me hope is that I was/am a legspinner.
But injuries, lack of focus, poor levels of fitness, being cut off from the Surrey System through going to boarding school in Berkshire, kind of shattered that dream.

It may sound like a sad story, and in many ways it is I suppose.
But, not everyone can make it professionally. There is more to My Life than just Cricket. I have many other passions, hobbies and interests too!

While Cricket is apparantly 'just a game', I believe it is more than that. In my opinion, there is No Sport like it. No sport can match Cricket''s aesthetic beauty. Cricket is unrivalled in the way it tests Your Mind, Body and Soul. So much can be gained through This Great Game, that I would not be doing myself justice, if I did not try to pass on My Love for the game, to other people.

Why Poland? Why Wroclaw?  Well I am half Polski! My Ma is from Warsaw, and I have visited many, many times. I love the Country, and know that it is a special place .

Polish people are fascinated by Cricket. FACT!
When I was very young, about 5 or 6, I played cricket with Dad in the park. People began to watch in their droves! They couldn't believe their eyes!

I have always played,  and will continue to play Cricket.

I have a great friend in Wroclaw. I will be going there at some point soon, to work there.

Finally, if there is anybody on here, who is interested in joining me on this new venture, then please feel to get in touch by pm. By this I mean, anyone who is passionate about Cricket, and wants to play a part in Cricket's future!
I need People like you lot! People who Love The Game, possibly more than I do! I'm not sure that is possible !..

This is not a free for all. This is not a joke, a feeling thought. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. And I am inviting you all to join and play Your Part.

I hope to hear from you soon, and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I Would Love Some Support in this Venture. In fact, I do need help in it, I require it, as it can't be done on my own.
Please feel free to post on here, in a helpful and positive way; feel free to PM me, and we can go from there.

Anything is possible!

Best Wishes,

Adam

Thank you for your warm wishes. Do you visit them much? Hopefully you can visit us some day and play! I am hoping that we will be able to find kit through support by various means. This is literally at the beginning. I have friends in Wroclaw but it's really me on my own at the moment. If I had the money I would travel up and down the country to every sports direct store and hand pick the cheapest and best Slazenger bats known to Man!
I picked up a great bat the other day,for myself...probably not just for me anymore! I suppose I have to provide pics now as otherwise it doesn't exist?

I did message an administration on here but haven't received a reply yet. Would be nice to make this a sticky topic. I would love people on here to share their ideas!
In the next few weeks I need to start sending letters and emails to various people, clubs, Government departments (eek!) to see if they can help. I have contacts in Warsaw also and perhaps they would be willing to help as it is the Capital, and I have been there many, many times. My Grandmother who is 89 Lives there still,I'm visiting her on Boxing Day this Year, all being well. She has just had her cataract removed and I while speaking to her she told me she was looking at the Moon closely without her glasses!!
I could approach English Clubs, but wonder if that is the correct thing to do, when cricket participation is going down here. I am English after all. I wonder if I can get English clubs on board, the publicity and good will it could generate could encourage more people to take up the sport again here?

@golders, I'll probably be there starting Jan/Feb, I'll try to help in whatever possible way & will surely play some cricket with you & your group. All the best for your venture.
