Now and Then.
« on: November 01, 2016, 11:29:34 AM »

Have any of you guy's purchased a B3 from a few years ago and recently purchased another?
I am liking some of the shapes they are turning out but was very disappointed with a crown I purchased 3 years ago so was just wondering if anyone thinks they have improved their processes. pressing etc.

I've had three and absolutely no complaints, the finishing has improved and the service is always top drawer...

As there first customer (sorry Chris) and user of over 10-20 of them.

The finish is better
The blend into the handle is better
The pressing is better

That's all I can really say the new handle they are using is better too and to be honest you struggle to find all round better bat than that they do.

The process has always been good but they have fine tuned and listened to players from the parks to the test arena.

This isn't sales spin it'd a fact they understand that more club cricketers buy than unbranded pros and they really have a process going which is hard to beat.

They have fine tuned almost everything and look to the future with still looking at the past and what worked.

I've had 5 over the last couple of years and can definitely testify that they have improved, a lot! The pressing is among the best I have experienced and the thick oval handle I order on all my bats is the closest thing to a Scat handle by a country mile. I ordered a thin edge Warner off him last year and it arrived with a round handle instead of the oval handle I ordered (bloody couriers!  :D ); one email to Streaky and within a couple of hours had started a replacement for me as well as found a buyer here in Australia to save on postage back to the UK... Brilliant service!!!!!
The two Crowns I have owned have been two of the best pingers I have ever used (among GN Warners, Affinity Persona's, L&W Signature etc).

So what happened @skip1973? Did you order a fresh bat?
what was it? Pictures please  :D
How did it measure up?

Really interested to hear how your second experience was. I think the bats have improved. Handle on the Beluga I ordered in January certainly felt good out in the middle and the press was excellent.

It was much better, and comparable to bats of a similar price. I didn't hold on to it long, someone on here got it. It did make my bag and a game but being a long term GN user and a super fussy nuff bag it just didn't feel right in the handle or the sloped shoulders. Nice bat and as much in my head as anything that I didn't get along with it.

Hell4Leather are still the pick of all UK makers I have tried in my opinion, comfy thinish handles and a nice bow.

Last June i got a 2 Stripe TKC pepsi (45mm edge) and used it in nets only. From my experience B3 bats needs a very little time for knocking (edges only), the pressing is top level as bat pings and pretty much are net ready. Being impressed by the great customer service & performance of bats i ordered my 2nd B3 last month. Didn't find any difference between two as far as pressing & finishing is concerned.
Both bats got 5 grains but they opened up very quickly.

I understand what you mean. I have had bats from GM, B3, BB, SS etc and they just didnt work for me even thought they were exceptional bats but something was not the perfect. Goldilocks Syndrome perhaps. I like GN too, but not the handles on the Kaboom and XPs. Powerbow was a nice handle shape. interested in the new AU Predator and Atomic for 2017, but if they have that handle shape I wont like it.
