You have two bats.....
« on: November 12, 2016, 10:03:10 PM »

One is light, full profile and really big for its weight ...but isn't the greatest pinger

The other is a bit heavier ( 1oz) not as full and pick up not as good  ... but it has unbelievable ping, off scale...

Which would you choose ? ( both respected brands )

I guess that would depend on how much these has been played in! If the one that doesn't ping as well has not been given any time to open up and start responding then the comparison may not be equal.

Both  ;)
Use the bigger, less pingy one as a net bat until it opens up and save the pinger for match day.
Simples :D

Whichever one I thought I would score runs with.

Neither.

I'd sell them both and buy one/two that are right for me.

It's a custom bat forum so the rule is to keep them and get 2 more custom made by a forum sponsor

I go for pinger in the right weight (range). Ultimate test of a bat is how it fares in the middle. Take them to a friendly game and see which you like. One of my best pingers is heavily concaved with huge edges, goes like a train and makes a cracking sound!

I will go for the one that has the better pick and feel.

Ping, concaving, edge size, toe width, handle shape, number of grips, price, brand, weight, willow grade etc, are all secondary.

What matters is that when you pick a bat, your muscles, ligaments and bone pivots should send an accurate signal to your brain with the exact location of the sweet spot.

If you want genuine opinion from the forum you need to give them a realistic scenario, two bats? :)

But why isn't there a choice of 5? Surely everyone has 5?

I never thought about it but now, that seems like a factor that may vary from person to person.

How much of a beans and chickpeas have you devoured a night before the game and how much of wind you are letting loose on the pitch?

Yep, could possibly effect your performance as facing a pace bowlers may result in having more wind generated and that could exit out at a higher speed with louder sounds.

We all have our unique experiences - looks like you got some too. Thanks for the insight.

Beans and chickpeas? Must be an American thing...
